That is kind of what I was getting. Obviously not well said.
Moxy's is so low category I bought a room package with some perks and didn't even get those.

Care to share what perks you 'bought' and didn't receive?

It was over two years ago now - Moxy Kaunus in Lithuania. It was something like a breakfast rate with beer and appetizers and tickets to a cheap local event. On check-in, the staff were clueless. They were insistent that a welcome drink was a fruity cocktail, No beer. No appetizers. No ticket.

The rate was prepaid and only a bit more than without the package.
Breakfast was mediocre. I’m sure the app would have been as well.

I pulled the reservation from my email. The rate was called “The Funky Dinner”.

Sounds like they delivered a funk-y dinner!

This is a long post/thread for 250 points welcome gift for Gold, assuming this is what OP was complaining about and did not receive.

Oh look, it's post No. 6,666 for me.

A lot of rates have “items” that never materialise. I’ve rarely bothered since I booked the cheapest rate but almost never receive my “fruit platter” in the room that I’m technically supposed to be receiving.

It’s usually hidden in the booking and you might miss it. I’ve had a Moxy rate with two beers but I didn’t realise until I’d left. I’ve also spun that wheel and “won” points but never received them.

I’ve just checked and actually my upcoming Heathrow stay is one of these rates. I’ll never expect the platter or bonus points:

My observation is that Marriott's system does not make it easy for the FD person to identify amenities that are included in the rate. I often have to remind the FD person that my rate includes _______, whether that's parking or breakfast. They seemed to be better with in-house credit.

WIth that said, you are absolutely entitled to the bonus points, if you are willing to do the follow-up with the hotel and/or Marriott customer service.

I most often have this problem with breakfast-included rates at domestic Courtyards. They will insist that all you are entitled to is the $10 credit even though the rate printout clearly shows Breakfast for Two. Usually it is resolved with a pleasant "I didn't know we offered that" but sometimes I've lost the argument and can't recover the difference since the base rate will have increased.

It is curious to me that the STARS and Luminous rates deliver a full breakfast or generous credit so consistently and Bonvoy Platinum and above deliver it so inconsistently.

Those rates are only available for higher end hotels and paying cash. When you are paying cash at a rate that’s already higher than the member rate, hotels don’t see it as a loss to provide breakfast.

I understand the why and the distinctions. My point is that consistency is possible.

Consistency is possible, but I don’t think hotels view it as desirable.
