JW Marriott Riyadh, Saudi Arabia [Master Thread]
The JW Riyadh is an interesting property. I came in with low expectations due to the low review scores (which seem to be more the norm in Saudi Arabia). My final take is that I think the property is too expensive for what it is (my rate was 1521 SAR) - I’ll be paying less for the Ritz later this week. However, there are some good things here. Let’s talk about my impressions:
Pros: - Bed was generally comfortable - medium mattress, plush pillows, covers of fine plushness for Middle East climate
- Shower pressure from rainfall head was good
- Service was friendly and personable
- Evening lounge offering on Fridays and Saturdays is a la carte only - really enjoyed my sea bass and fries
- Had to ask, but no issue with late checkout
Neutral: - Upgraded to a Junior Suite - I noticed full suites available online - the Junior Suite is really just a corner room with windowed bathroom
- Some service misses - my bag was left in the lobby for 45ish minutes - I claimed it myself after noticing they hadn’t moved it since I visited the lounge - took a long time for them to come fix the safe - everyone was friendly, though
- Breakfast (lounge Sunday through Thursday, restaurant Friday and Saturday) was just fine - nothing really stood out as super tasty, and machine coffee wasn’t great
Cons: - Stain on bottom sheet (couldn’t come up with water)
- Bathroom stays hot due to lack of curtain and air vent
I doubt I would come back due to the high price.
