Earning Points in Points Redemption Stay
I surprisingly received points from a 5 night points redemption stay. My bill was $0 so it can't be from that, and I declined the 1,000 welcome points and chose the gift offering instead so it's not that either. I was credited with about $300 in spend (~3,000 points) plus titanium elite bonus points on top of that. I assume this was an error that came out in my favor. Can someone confirm since this is the first time I've redeemed points for a stay?

Well if you bill was $0, you're entitled to nothing apart from welcome gift (if applicable) - chalk it up to Marriott's poor IT which ruled in your favour

Most likely the $300 was the reimbursement amount from Bonvoy to the property for the stay, and some glitch treated it as eliglble spend. Don't question it and enjoy the extra points!

I had this happen once on a points stay in Hawaii. I did have some spend, but the points I got was WAY more than what I should have received based on that spend.

Check your C/C to see if you have a charge from the hotel. The bill they emailed you may not have been the final bill or they decided the towels you shoved into your luggage are worth $300 :)

This was what I was thinking as well. The dollar amount($60/night) is roughly in line with what I've read Marriott reimburses hotels for points stays. |
