Nights Sold on eBay?

I have noticed sellers on eBay selling elite nights.
How do they do this? Does it work? I am sure it’s against the terms that Bonvoy I didn’t think this was a thing!

Definitely not within the Bonvoy terms and conditions. I don’t even know how you could add the nights. Unless it was gifting through the gift Gold for the 75 night reward.

As I posted just a few days ago, this is against the T&Cs and isn't a good idea. There was a recent bulk example in China around this, where a bunch of people had their accounts permanently closed for partaking in this type of activity:

Let me guess. The sellers are from China?

No need to guess.

What I don't understand is that there are sites selling mattress run for people, and selling status of various airlines/hotels chains. None of the companies have done anything to stop that - that site is still on. Just google and you will find plenty.

This is also absolutely wrong and serious violations of T&C.

Sadly there are a lot more fraudsters out there than people to catch them!

There is one from Canada that is still there after some years. Openly selling mattress run (it's supposed to be your own butt in bed) and status. I can understand if it is some vendors from eBay but I'm talking about a site that you can even pay with your credit card.

They probably add you as a second in the room. They get credit for the night and you get the cheaper stay. Very much against the rules, do not do it, you risk being banned

Heck no, of course I will never do things like that. Adding as a second only works in IHG - not Marriott. If you do that they will not credit points/nights into your account - it will be to the one who initially made the reservation. I suspect that company is working with hotels in China to make bookings without you being there.

In Asia and the US you can't check-in without a valid ID.
