Courtyards without Bistros?

Staying at the CY Boston Logan this evening and was shocked to see an actual restaurant (which is very good, BTW) instead of the usual Bistro. It has me thinking, what other Courtyards do not have the Bistro and instead have either a restaurant or perhaps nothing? I don't recall seeing a CY without the Bistro with the exception of the one in Lake Buena Vista "Marriott Village" near Disney Springs. I drove out there last March (2023) to meet some extended family that was staying there while visiting the parks. I recall them having an unbranded restaurant that someone had mentioned was open for breakfast. Only other exception was probably in 2015, a CY in Valparaiso, IN that was rebranding into a non-Marriott affiliated hotel.

Are there any others out there in 2024?

Basically all non-US. US CY having an actual restaurant do happen, but is much rarer.

Interesting, I do not travel internationally outside of Canada so I did not realize that. The 2 CYs I've stayed at in Canada both had the Bistro, but I didn't realize it was a North American thing. I guess the better question would be, "what Courtyards within the US or Canada do not have the Bistro?"

Courtyard in Halifax, Nova Scotia has both a Bistro in the lobby, and a proper good restaurant across the breezeway from the front door.

Courtyard King Hamehameha on the Big Island (HI) has a proper restaurant and other eateries.

Courtyard is an interesting brand. As flyerCO mentioned, outside of the U.S. it is common to see restaurants and in some cases a Courtyard can be a high-end hotel. For example, Courtyard Taipei is a very nice 5-star hotel with multiple restaurants and a club lounge, it would be right at home alongside any of the Premium Marriott brand hotels. Courtyard is the most inconsistent Marriott brand I've stayed at. Granted, I've only stayed at 1% of Courtyard hotels so my sample may not be representative. I assume there's a reason it's the brand chosen for these hotels, perhaps due to proximity to hotels from other Marriott brands that have exclusivity? I'm doubtful of that, though, because I've stayed at multiple Courtyards in the same city where the quality difference was notable.

Sounds similar to the Courtyard San Diego at Liberty Station - has both. Restaurant/bar is excellent; Bistro is more like a take-out counter with a few seats.

I was at the Courtyard JFK a few years ago and remember being very impressed with the bar/restaurant. No idea if it had a bistro as well.

Seems like they are more common than I had thought, though definitely still very rare overall. I’m a lifetime Titanium and regardless, continue to maintain Titanium annually, but I seldom stay at Courtyards. I guess it just so happens that each CY I’ve stayed at in the last 8 or 9 years happened to have a Bistro only. And as stated, I’ve only ever stayed at US and Canadian CYs, so no experience beyond NA.

We stayed at the CY Burlington, Vermont a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant is actually quite nice, and definitely a step above a standard Bistro. The bar is definitely better than a standard Bistro. 100% recommended!

We stayed at the CY in Kingston, ON as a break on a road trip last night. Standard Bistro, but still not bad. Great service for breakfast.

Courtyard Page AZ has a real sit down restaurant.

+1

I was at the Courtyard in Burlington this week, very impressed. Managers reception from 5 to 6 had unlimited decent quality booze at the bar, too!

In Calgary, The Dorian (Autograph Collection) and Courtyard share the roof top restaurant. The Dorian breakfast area uses Courtyard’s.

You've touched on a sore point in this household. LOL. The Chicago Midway Courtyard does not have a Bistro. They have a TGIF right next door which you can apparently use your F&B credit (if they are open). However, the TGIF does not open until 7am on weekends.... Our last visit at that property (which I hope is truly our last visit) marked the second time we could not use the F&B credit for Starbucks coffee and steel-cut whole grain oatmeal in the morning (the year prior they were doing renovations and everything was torn up in the lobby). Neither DH nor i appreciate the Keurig type coffee provided in the room (which unfortunately seems ubiquitous across all hotel brands). The Starbucks coffee/Starbucks oatmeal in the morning is the main reason I ever pick a Courtyard brand.
