I am looking for a more natural setting with mountains, river, lake or beach around. This Courtyard can still be a good place to stay for a night or 2 during an exhausting trip. I am quite happy that Marriott in the last few years had added so many properties in Japan. |

Is it not the same as Lake Biwa Marriott?
Bit of a hassle without a rental car though. Consider visiting La Collina (cake) and Two Rabbits (beer) |

You mentioned small town excursions, and Omihachiman is the place to go when staying at the Lake Biwa Marriott.

I actually have a booking at the Marriott Biwa already, knowing that they pipe in the hot spring water. Ironically, my choice of Marriott Biwa is not for onsen, but to explore nearby villages, in search of photo-ops.
I will check out the other 2 properties. Thank you so much. |

My two experiences have been Sheraton Kobe Bay - this is a public onsen with free access for Elite guests staying at the hotel - and Shisui - I am not sure if there is a public onsen, but my suite had an onsen in the bathroom. I believe Suiran has a similar setup for some of their rooms and suites.
