Best value points redemption ever?

I don't know if this post is a joke or sarcastic so I'll assume it's sincere. I think this hotel has set their prices very high either by mistake or because they want to discourage people from booking this far in advance, i.e: they may have some renovations planned. The typical price of a room at this hotel is around $165/night so the jump to $1655/night starting on February 1st 2025 could represent a human error when typing in the base rate, e.g: they intended to type $165 and added an extra 5 at the end ($1655). The typical points per night for this hotel is around 35k which is fairly typical for a low end Marriott hotel.

LOL yeah I only consider things good redemption values if the rates are also in line with typical for the property, and its also someplace I would choose to stay and normally pay. Seriously, who is going to pay 1650/nt for a Fairfield?

I would gladly pay 1,650 per night to stay at this Fairfield by Marriott property...

...in Ethiopian dollars.

This FI is attached to an Aloft and a Hyatt Place, and a test booking at the other 2 properties also saw a jump in Feb (Aloft to $150 ->$1k, HP from $150->$500), so it's maybe something the property mgmt is doing in Feb with this property block?

I know this post is tongue in check, but no, 2.2 cpp isn't even close to the best Marriott redemption ever.

Right now, you can book stays in the Maldives (StR or RC) in the 4-6 cpp range.

Auto show is 8th - 17th, could there be a convention impact?

My immediate thought was that perhaps there is an event in the area that will cause demand to skyrocket - perhaps a solar eclipse???

Bora Bora gets similar points values fwiw, especially if you get 5th night free.

How are you seeing those Bora Bora rates?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I suspect this is a mistake -- the Hampton Inn in the next block is $200 for the same nights. I don't know of any events that would affect rates that much in that part of the city, at least not at that time of year (closer to the convention center, yes).

Using the App with flexible dates, just 1 night search.

+1
But I suspect it has to do with dates.

My $95 annual fee Marriott card gets a free night certificate, which I used to book Luxury Hotel Collection Midtown NYC due to a points sale they had earlier this year. Rates are maybe around $600 on average so I would count it as 6cpp.
