Refer a Friend-not working?
 
Has anyone else tried to use Marriott Bonvoy Refer a Friend and been successful? I've submitted 5 different email addresses and none of them have received an invitation. None of the 5: have opted out of email communications, are already a member, have the email in spam, have the email blocked by a firewall, or have their email address entered incorrectly. I contacted Marriott and their response was basically...tough luck, nothing we can do.

I've been using the link on the Marriott website. After entering the requested data I get a page that says "Success! Your invitation will be sent to: [email protected]". Thoughts? Ideas?

Depends. This one got 27 emails.

Update on my original post. If you enjoy frustration, just try to "Refer a Friend" on Marriott Bonvoy. The system Marriott uses doesn't work and trying to deal with Marriott customer service is a nightmare.

Marriott has so many broken things on their website that I'm sure this is a very low priority for them. Have a look at the Bugs and Glitches thread. We've been unable to see anything but the 1st page of upcoming reservations online for over 3 weeks. People regularly can't book reservations. I think it's a bunch of high school students running the IT department, or maybe that should be grade school students.

It's mindblowing how broken the Refer-a-Friend system seems to be. My experience so far to unsuccesfully have someone referred:

Challenge 1: Sending the invite

Following the website, fill in my info, including the recipient.
I gets an email:

The following friends have requested not to receive email communications [email]. However, if they contact us [broken link to contact page], and choose to opt in to receiving emails, you can refer them again within 48 hours.
Or, you may want to invite another friend.
Leaving the broken link aside, it is not clear to me what the sentence with '48 hours' mean. If I want to invite her again, it needs to be within 48 hours? What happens if i dont?
Anyway, she uses the contact form on the Mariott page to ask for an opt-in.

Response:

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused regarding the Refer a Friend invitation. I understand how important it is for you to receive the referral email successfully.

At this time, we are not able to update or opt in your email communication preference until you become a Marriott Bonvoy® Member.

I kindly recommend contacting our Customer Care team, who will be able to assist you further and help process your Refer a Friend promotion once your email preferences are updated on their end.

Please let us know if there is anything else we may assist you with. We are always here to help.

Huh what?
You can't opt-in until you are a member? But you need to use the referral to sign up for it to work, not afterwards?
Secondly, 'Please contact customer care - best regards, customer care'?!?!?

This would contradict what I've read so far that using the referral after sign up doesnt work. Which kinda makes sense, referrals for any other program require you to use a referral code at sign up.

This led nowhere so i used an alternative email address for the referral

Challenge 2: using the referral
Refer email received. But the link is dead.
The link is https://jmr2.netlinkrg.com/rewardafr...EN/?ref=xxxxxx where xxx is a code. The domain irrespective of code seems to be dead.

I guess we will give up.....:rolleyes:
