St Regis Longboat Key, FL [Master Thread]

[Didn’t see a master thread anywhere so decided to start one. Mods, please move or merge if I missed it.]

Very excited about this hotel and it looks like it will open fall 2024. Just got this email from the reservations contact:

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort! We are anticipated to open this summer and are accepting reservations starting on October 1st, 2024 for now. I would be happy to send you an email once reservations open up any sooner.

Update

Email from the resort just said they’d be accepting reservations starting in September 2024.

Exciting to have another upscale option on the gulf coast. Hope they do it well. Rates don't seem totally insane, unlike a lot of StR rates these days...

I just looked for December of this year - looks like $1400/night is the weekend pricing, or about 105K points per night.

According to Sarasota Magazine this resort is opening August 14th, looks like it's sold out that night but available after that on the website.

I just booked three nights for part of our Spring Break next year, cash rates were over $1,700 per night, emptied out my Bonvoy points at 114,000 points/night. Never been a fan of Marriott, being told I'm still on the hook for a resort fee on a reward stay is yet another reason to not like the program and be glad I'm practically at zero on points now.

Any stays yet?

I'm strongly considering a stay and would like to learn more about its unique offerings.
  • Tortoise Experience: Can anyone share details about the tortoises? Are they out all day, or do they come out at specific times? Do guests get the chance to feed them lettuce? It reminds me of the Four Seasons Golden Triangle, where you can feed the elephants each morning, and the nearby Four Seasons Chiang Mai, which had a water buffalo available for guests to visit throughout the day.
  • Snorkeling with Stingrays and Fish: How is the snorkeling experience managed? Is it staffed, and is it available all day? Is snorkeling equipment provided at no extra cost?
  • Lazy River and Champagne Button: How is the lazy river? I’m curious about the champagne button—does it dispense champagne automatically, or is it delivered by staff?
  • Kids Club: How is the kids' club? Would this resort be suitable for a 5-night stay with a young child?
  • Pools and Restaurants: What are the pools and dining options like?
  • Disney World Connection: I’m considering a week at Disney World followed by a visit to Longboat Key. Would it be practical to rent a car or hire a driver for this trip?
Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone stayed there yet? Looking for an April stay myself. Reviews online are mostly phenomenal except for the occasional diva that doesn't understand a hotel isn't fully operational on the first week.

Not there until early November but one thing I discovered that really ticks me off is the $55.00 per day parking charge. Some would say that if you can afford their room rates you should be able to afford $55 per night for the parking. That said, Longboat Key is not downtown Miami. A rate like the $25 for the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Estero would be more appropriate if a fee is to be charged at all.
