Delta Hotels Winnipeg [Master Thread]
***Mods, please move/merge this thread as you see fit. I am unable to find a related thread for this property.
Anyone here with a recent stay at the Delta Hotels Winnipeg? I'm LTTE, but any experienced-based data points is certainly welcomed! We'll (two of us) be there next week. First time in Winnipeg! |
The Delta is just fine albeit downtown Winnipeg is something to be desired.
I would suggest just using Uber if you really do not need a vehicle as the parking garage can have numerous break ins. I find the rooms to be clean and modern - bathroom might be slightly small but the heated bathroom floors are nice :) They have a small club lounge that will serve breakfast - nothing fancy but does the trick if you are not a huge breakfast eater. A lot of my upgrades were just to a club floor and rarely given a suite. Club Floor room is just fine for me. Most if not all rooms also have a balcony which is nice if that is what you like. Several restaurants in the area if needed. You should be fine and probably my first choice in downtown Winnipeg - I would stay here before I would stay at the Fairmont. |

Well, so far I've only been upgraded to a high-floor "premium" room, which I assume is lesser than a club floor room. I will inquire about a club floor room. What's the early evening snacks like in the club lounge? I'm aware of Winnipeg being Winnipeg, but you really make it sound like that part of downtown is top-notch dreadful. :D |
Evening snacks are just that and I would not waste my time for the most part visiting..........unless of course you are a very light eater. Unless you are in a full scale Club Lounge (Asia) my purpose is only for the convenience of breakfast.
Yes, Winnipeg downtown area especially if you for example at the Fairmont and continue walking north on main street. Not a chance you should be doing that in the later part of the evening. Winnipeg is trying to revitalize the downtown area but I won't see that in my life time. I don't even think it is possible. The Delta is in a fine place - You can walk over to The Keg if you want; a little casino right across the street at the Shark Club; East India Company Pub & Eatery very close by - man if you like some of this food this is a great restaurant to try; Elephant & Castle pub attached to the hotel which actually also has a great Butter Chicken dish!......anywhere else you want to go just grab Uber unless it is really close. The Delta location is fine - common sense prevails. Winnipeg is just a big Regina! :) |

Did a staycation at this Delta a couple of years ago and one thing I appreciated about this hotel is that it has a legit swimming pool. It's big and it has a deep end. There is also a seasonal outdoor pool as well, both pools are several storeys above street level.
|
Looking at this hotel for a trip to see a hockey game. Can I get to/from the arena at night without going outside or do the indoor walkways close at a certain hour on Saturdays?
|
Sure can. Cannot get much closer even if you had to walk it is not a big deal. It is practically across the street - Probably faster walking outside to the game then through the walkway. (Honestly, cannot say if they have changed the walkway hours etc., but I would not worry about it if they did as you are super close.)
|
Thanks. I know it’s close but I like the idea of not having to bundle up to get there and back!
|
The walkway is open after the game at night as many people use it to return to the various parking garages attached to it. So there won't be any issues unless you hang around for last call at a watering hole, haha.
