Moxy Boston Downtown, MA [Master Thread]

I didn't see an existing thread for the Moxy Boston, so starting this one.

I recently stayed at the Moxy Boston - it was my first stay at the Moxy Brand. I only tried the Moxy due to the Q4 Marriott brand explorer promotion but I was glad I did - I was pleasantly surprised by the Moxy brand overall and would stay at the Moxy Boston again in certain situations.

Pros
+ The hotel was clean, modern, and very functional - I was very impressed with the thought that went into the design - for example, the peg wall in the bedroom and the two-level shelf in the bathroom that allowed you to store items despite the limited space
+ Good location, right next to the W for those who are familiar. Great sushi restaurant across the street.
+ Bed was very comfortable
+ Shower was very high quality - good water pressure and temperature control
+ Liked the Muk toiletries and high quality towels
+ Came with a free drink which was good and easy to get (I think this is offered as a standard amenity at all Moxies)
+ Destination fee was straightforward to use - $25 fee yielded a $25 F&B credit. I used it at breakfast for a pretty good egg and tater tot dish and a soda and didn't owe anything additional.
+ The lobby restaurant / bar / co-working space seemed popular with locals and hotel guests - it was vibrant but not overly crowded
+ Hotel had attractive, modern holiday decorations throughout the common spaces
+ On the top floor, there is a large rooftop area - the indoors has several tables and chairs and there seems to be an outside area but it was closed in the winter. This is a nice space to work or just visit to admire the excellent views of the city - not sure if they turn this into an event space in warmer months
+ 4 pm check-out granted with no problem

Cons
- Some soundproofing issues, both external and internal with the (faux?) hardwood floors making it worse. Not the loudest hotel I have experienced by any stretch but definitely less well soundproofed than the W next door
- Would be nice to have bar soap in addition to the liquid soap
- The space would be challenging for >1 nights or >1 person, but I think this is just what you get with the Moxy brand, given the intentionally small rooms

Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectation - I was expecting an Aloft with a small room but was pleasantly surprised with the very functional & thoughtful design and the modern & vibrant common spaces. It was a good value and I would stay here again for the right use case (1 night stay on my own at start or end of a trip). I'm glad the promotion encouraged me to give this hotel and the brand a try.

Nice to have a thread about this property. And a thorough and helpful report

How did you find it Keyser?

I stayed here in late October and would agree with the initial poster. I was there for four nights for a conference. I liked the location for lots of good Asian food choices nearby (yum sushi!!) and was walking distance to the Common to get a leg stretch in after being at a conference all day.

i enjoyed the avocado toast and fried eggs for breakfast. The one day I got a bagel it was rock hard.

I had a good stay. Ended up staying 5 nights.

Room size was a little on the smaller side but for one person it was fine. Bathroom was decent size. I asked for an ice bucket when checking in & they offered to also send up a fridge for me, which was very much appreciated.

You get a $35 coupon against the 'Destination Fee' & I used that for breakfast 3 times & dinner twice. Food was good.

Location is very good & I was able to walk to pretty much wherever I needed to go. Lots of restaurants nearby.

I'm scheduled to be back in Boston in January & again in May. Have booked both stays here again.
