Retention offer
 

Received a retention offer to keep the Bonvoy card. Called to have the account closed, the AF hit, and was offered a $50 statement credit keep it open.The unusual part of it was the Chase agent said Marriotts is offering the credit, vs, Chase. There was no spend on the card for over a year, AF is $95 minus the $50 credit equals $45 for a 35K cert. Took them up on the offer.

Sounds like a good deal to me

Sounds really good. Two years ago I tried, with my Canadian Amex bonvoy card (asking for retention offer). No dice. Nothing.

Thanks for this. Time to renew my Chase Marriott Visa and decided to call. I also got offer for $50 credit. Otherwise I would have canceled the card. I get virtually no offers from Chase and what I get is useless for me, at least compared to Amex.
