I registered my wife as soon as I saw this thread. No way will we come anywhere close to $7K spend in two ordinary months of our modest day-to-day life.

Same applies for other day to day spend that I get better Amex MR or Chase UR earnings by putting them on the right cards.
Earning a grand total of 24k Bonvoy points (14k of which is at an opportunity cost of earning other/ better points or miles) is just not motivating to me at all. If you value Bonvoy at .6 cpp then on $7000 spend it's like getting 2% cash back, nothing more exciting than that.
To me, the only way this promo is worthwhile and makes sense for anyone is if you somehow have $7k of Marriott spend to put on your card over the next 2 month so that you walk away with a decent amount of additional Bonvoy points given that you'll get bonus points for using your card at Marriott properties. I don't fit into that category at the moment so I'll just pass on it.

Maybe I will get "lucky" and have $5K in unanticipated auto collision repair expenses.
This whole promo is laughable.
Beaucoup BONVY!

I agree that this is a bad (weird?) promo - which is why I wonder if there is something else going on.......
if you care enough to register, then such things mean something to you and you probably have other opportunities of a better return on a $7k spend in the next 2 months.
.... and you probably have a zillion MBv points to begin with
all this is odd....

While I don't disagree that this promo is odd, perhaps, someone was planning on spending $7K at a Bonvoy property or properties over the next couple of months?

So for those people it would be a give-away, not a way to redirect spend to the Marriott card. And for the 99% of other targeted people it’s a joke promo. Very strange thinking going on at Marriott.

On my Amex Business, I didnt receive the email after the charge I was sure put me over, and its been a week now and the Amex offer is still appearing in my active offers. Perhaps I need to go back and review my charges to double check.

Well, I feel like an idiot.
Took out of the safe and handed Mrs. Jailer her Amex Bonvoy card and said, "have at it and don't use the other Amex until further notice".
As, maddingly, there is no spend-to-bonus counter anywhere that I could find I just guesstimated that based on enrollment date that we were close to done, but called just to double check and was told that only MY card was enrolled. OK, I guess that I should have known better, but as this is a joint marital account and in that I pay it anyhow, it didn't occur to me. I refuse to try to recoup/re-spend her few $thousand spree for a piddling 10k points. Back to the safe with a bad taste in my mouth and the paradoxical impact will be that rather than drive business to this card it goes way, way to the bottom of the deck.
And yes, don't say it: the devil is in the details and read the fine print.

I would rather they just give you 3x points on every day spend like the Hilton card does. Makes life less complicated and would get me to move spend back to my Marriott cards.
