Marriott Ventura Beach - FlyerTalk Forums

We have reservations for the Memorial Day weekend. Old reviews aren't so hot, but we want to be close to the beach and it has a pool and hottub and lots of places to eat nearby, so it seems to fit our needs.

Also considering using SNAs. We have no travel planned except to see family the rest of the year, and that's at an extended stay place, so we need to use 'em or lose 'em.

Thanks!

I stayed here a few weeks ago and liked it. Nothing crazy out of the ordinary or above and beyond, but lots of space, good pool/hot tub and the location is great. Is there anything specific you had questions about?

Glad to see a recent stay!

Did you have a standard room or something better? Do you think it's worth trying to use SNAs here for a better view or bigger room? For three nights we don't mind spreading out if we can, and we have SNAs to spare

Any surprises like parking problems or bad wifi or noisy pools or dirty beach or anything else that stands out?

As a Titanium, we got upgraded to the "larger guest room" which was nice and spacious and overlooked the pool and had a sectional couch. The room seemed like it had been renovated in the last 5 years or so. Pretty standard Marriott fare. I can't really comment on if an SNA is worth it to you, it looks like they offer pretty standard suites, but nothing particularly individual or unique. If you've got them to burn its probably worth a shot, but its not as aspirational as some of the SNA upgrades you see thrown around on FT.

Can't comment on the beach as we were there for a wedding and didn't have the time, but the pool and hot tub areas were not crowded when we were there (weekend, though it seems like a lot of the hotel was being used for a prom and church convention vs. leisure travelers).

And, there is an In-N-Out burger across the street

Thanks for the details, AAG.

And jtp, I live across the street from an In-N-Out, and I haven't been there yet. I like burgers, but there are many better ones out there (and not at fast food places)

Back home from 3 good nights here. Arrived before noon and the room that was assigned to us wasn't ready. She described it as having a Juliet balcony (it looks like most of the rooms have these but we didn't know). We were chatty with the desk agent and she "found" another room that was ready. Not sure if it really popped up or if she liked us (I am VERY likable, I like to think) but it was on the 4th floor on the north side. We asked if they had any ocean view rooms as we were prepared to wait until real checkin time if that was possible and she told us that "some rooms have peek a boo views but we don't sell them as that as some folks are disappointed by the view". We went up to our room (4027) and there was the ocean view from our (real) balcony (2 chairs and roomy). The property is a good block from the beach and there is some slope so it isn't a great view (you can't see the waves breaking) but it is definitely the ocean. I'd say at least the last 6 rooms on the odd side of that section of the property have balconies with views. Room numbers 4023 up to 4033?, and maybe the third floor same corner also has views.

Bathroom was nice, with a glass (sliding door) shower. Room has tons of outlets (and USB ports). Not fancy, maybe a little tired and dull, but nothing wrong with it. Mini fridge under the desk. Built in luggage rack in the closet.

Platinum amenity was $10 F&B or 1000 points plus daily buffet breakfast, you could also have eggs or omelettes made to order. We did hear a TItanium say that they could also order the menu entrees, but we were ok with what we had, and we used the $10 for "fresh berry bowl" the last morning as we didn't see any other value there -- you can't use it at the little sundry shop.

$16/night self parking, they give you a tag that you scan in and out to enter/leave the lot. Daily room "refreshing" is done with fresh towels and the bed nicely made and trash removed, which was plenty for our needs. Lots of towels at the pool and hot tub, which was nice and hot (the tub, not the pool). 5 minute walk to the beach. 10 minute walk to closest restaurants other than In 'n' Out. 30 minute walk to the Fairgrounds or to "downtown" on East Main Street.

A good stay.

Any stay reports from this year? Would like to know if the club lounge is open and how the offering is.
