this might shock you, but other people might actually have different needs than whatever you decided they need even though you've never met them or even talked to them before. lots of people traveling on business are in fact paying their own way. not everyone works for a big corporation or bills travel to a client.

I would look into cheap places near where you are already staying. Like lets say you are staying in Nowheresville, TN are a Marriott, maybe there is a cheap Fairfield Inn down the road. When you check out Friday, you swing by the FI and check in for a 2 night stay. Go to the room, mess up the sheets, and then head out. Sunday you check out remotely, before you check into your next hotel Monday morning.

Do this 2-3 times and you are all set.

So interesting story... Last year I screwed up and wound up with two non-refundable reservations for the same dates in the same city (neither was Marriott, but that's irrelevant to my point). I checked in to both properties. Stayed at one. Went to the room of the other property just to peek inside -- didn't touch a thing. When I came to check out of the property I didn't stay at, I went by the room again, just to check it. Housekeeping was there, totally redoing the bed -- even though it hadn't been touched. I was totally surprised by that -- I guess they have to, just to make sure it's ok for the next guest.

Trying to find the cheapest option to keep my status even though I’ve received almost no room upgrades worthwhile all year. In Paris last week I got a free redbull drink. They can shove the complimentary $6 credit up their ... because I’m not staying there again.

I got lucky as I received credit for the stay once for checking in via the mobile app and the location had mobile key while not actually checking in. We had to do a last minute no-show, so I was willing to write it off as a lost. The credit of the 1 night stay was just a bonus.

Nice to know they actually changed it.

I am sure they get paid hourly, so why not change it and earn a little extra money

s a follow up. If I have a few full days of really intense work and just want to sleep before my midnight flight but the hotel won't offer late check out so I book a night at an airport hotel but don't actually stay the night (i.e. I sleep in the afternoon and early evening but leave to get to the airport at like 9.30pm). Do I get the nights credit or not?

Thanks!

I wonder if they'll notice me sneaking out at 9pm-ish with my luggage. Or I supposed I should just walk out with purpose!!

Here is what I have done multiple times with no issue.

I always get a paper folio because I dont trust that everything was a applied correctly or that there arent random charges. I go to the the desk the night before, I ask for a folio since I need to leave early in the morning and dont want to waste time in the morning with stopping by to get it. I then load up my car immediately after, it doesnt look off because I am already doing another thing to save time in the morning. I then check out the next morning on the app. Done this many times and never had an issue.

If there is a side exit its even easier since you wont see the front desk person, but I would still ask for a folio, but thats my OCD
