Using Gmail? Original Cancelation Terms May be Hidden Confirmation Email

I learnt something interesting that I would like to share.

A hotel I booked changed the cancellation policy for my AAA rate. One issue with Marriott's IT is that if the hotel changes the cancellation terms for a specific room rate type, it will update the terms on the Marriott app for the booking even if you booked under the old cancellation policy.

In my case, a 1 day cancellation policy was changed to 3 days. When trying to cancel after the new deadline, I noticed the rules changed. I canceled anyway, but I was still charged for 1 night.

In order to "prove" my point to point, I had to find the original confirmation email. I use Gmail.com and I couldn't find where on the email it had the cancelation terms. I thought I was screwed. Then, I noticed the following at the end of the email:

[Message clipped] View entire message
I clicked on the link and it showed the full email and I was able to get the cancellation terms and prove myself to the hotel.

I noticed that this issue only happens on Gmail.com when using a computer web browser. I have not seen it happen when using Gmail on my iPhone, for example.

Good point. Gmail has always "clipped" long emails and to get to the bottom you have to click that link.

I learned that long ago when I was trying to unsubscribe from some unwelcomed emails
