You're not kidding You'd have thunk some people tried to put food in an AA Overhead Bin . Meanwhile, I was unable to register, both on the app and web yesterday evening and this morning, so I sent the Lurker a PM and within 15 minutes, received a positive reply.

1000 bonus points per night is, in historical context, a terrible promotion. The last really great Marriott promo I recall was 1st half of 2019, when they had double points plus a targeted double nights, that together meant 3x points. It was a heavy stay period for me, and I earned something like 250k points.

Many of us not only don't care about double qualifying nights, but see it for what it really is - yet another signal by Marriott that status will continue to devalue, inching ever closer to the Hilton model.

Surely the majority of people who don't care about double qualifying nights are those who have already achieved LTP or LTT?

I will probably stay around 30 nights during the promo period with work travel - would I requalify for titanium regardless yes, but to me it's a decent enough bump on the way to lifetime status.

Promotions are launched during traditional sluggish travel periods. Such is not the case as demand for premium travel and hotel occupancy are at an all time high. Probably going to have to wait for the next global catastrophe and meltdown for the next stellar promotion. All things considered, this one is not bad.

That is my understanding of the promo. Unfortunately, I may need to change my travel plans to shorten my stay, so I may look into booking individual nights and cancel nights if necessary.

How do you interpret that only the final night counts as double EQN?

No; let’s all review the T&Cs:

Marriott Bonvoy members who register for this promotion by April 9, 2023, will earn 1,000 bonus points per eligible paid night, plus one bonus Elite Night Credit per eligible paid night, during the 75-night promotion earning period.

Plus those who will reach status organically plus those who have credit card Platinum.

Double EQN just further overswells the elite ranks. Marriott is pushing the majority of the cost of this promo to the properties, who will predictably react to the further inflation of elite ranks with further elite benefit reductions. It's a negative sum game Marriott is playing (for everyone except Marriott, that is).

Travel brands have figured out that selling elite status is very profitable indeed. People will spend incremental dollars to achieve status without recognizing that when everyone's elite, nobody's elite.

AA is doing this masterfully with Loyalty Points. People are even giving up hotel qualifying nights to focus on racking up AA LPs.

So that could be a mild offset in the future; Marriott elite ranks will thin somewhat if enough people push their hotel bookings to AA channels rather than Marriott channels to chase AA status/points at the expense of Bonvoy status/points.

But at the end of the day chasing status is silly especially in this world where travel marketers have figured out that status itself is something to be monetized.

When everyone's elite, no one is elite.

Yes let's. Clearly it says during the 75 night promotion. And on the promo page it also clearly shows MAX 75 nights. So if I were to stay for 75 nights during the entire promotion, any nights before and after the promo period wouldn't count.

I hate the fact that I didn’t receive a SINGLE targeted promo in 4 years. Titanium every year.
now I really go and switch to Hyatt. Enough of bonvoy for me.

It seems that I am not the only one. No promotion on Marriott app or website.

I just sent a message to the Ambassador Team asking registration.

Is this targeted?
