Stayed with an SNA Upgrade in a Fantastic Suite. The layout with one big room and another big bathroom with a size of a hotelroom is a little bit unusual but at the same time a unique idea. Served breakfast was really good. Renovation is well done and hotel design not out of the usual W hotel design catalogue.

Fantastic property
Really enjoyed the stay here and it’s one of the finest building renovations I have seen. The hotel theme is whimsical and fun. Very fitting for a W.

Here's my take on the hotel - we had the same suite that youhavebeenupgraded video'd (or actually the mirror of it, there are two of these on each side of the über-über suite)

W Budapest - A New Benchmark in Luxury
As a Lifetime Platinum Member with over 750 nights at Marriott Properties, I can confidently say that W Budapest stands out as one of the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the staff set the tone for an unforgettable stay. Their attentiveness, warmth, and genuine hospitality made us feel truly special, especially as we were celebrating a significant milestone – my in-laws' 50th anniversary.
The hotel itself is a masterpiece, blending modern luxury with the rich history of Budapest (across the street from the Opera House). The rooms were immaculate, with every detail thoughtfully considered to ensure comfort and style. But what truly sets W Budapest apart is the exceptional staff who represent the very best of Marriott’s commitment to excellence. Their dedication to making our stay memorable went above and beyond anything we could have expected. I would mention the staff by name, but simply put, they ALL deserve praise to the highest degree. Their collective efforts made our experience unforgettable, and I am eternally thankful. Every Marriott manager and owner should stay here to witness firsthand what this team does and adopt their practices. Marriott International should be immensely proud of this property, and it should be used as a model to teach others within the organization. Our pre-river cruise stay was elevated to another level, thanks to the incredible experience at W Budapest. It’s a hotel that has set a new benchmark for luxury, service, and hospitality. I can’t recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning in the future. Just Book It |

THAT is perfect info. Thanks so much James! "Cookie Cutter" rooms was the deciding factor! My cousin, who is essentially my sister, often tells me to stop staying in cookie cutter Marriott properties. You may have been speaking to her. LOL.
I'll flip my Marriott to the Matild and then try out the W. I've never stayed in one, so why not! Thanks again! :D https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5bcbb76dc7.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...01aabc0d0f.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...555619749a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...75cd502f12.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...744ba3d012.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...af329d9948.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0a6e8989c2.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3988bb2e29.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...980a9eb84b.jpg Eggs Royal The W entrance is off of the side street. Budapest is a very walkable city. From the Matild, cross the Elizabeth bridge and follow the river. Return over the Chain Bridge and follow the river back.

So thanks to James et al here, I completed a 4 night stay at the W Budapest! Knocked my socks off!! Had a nice little upgrade to a corner room and I cannot tell you how great the service was! I had birthday treats almost every day, in my room and the restaurant except for the day that the A team all seemingly had off! I hated to leave! A couple associates even walked down a few blocks and got me a chimney cake when I told them how great it was.
I loved the holiday markets, and I'm glad I didn't stay at the Marriott. Yes it has a great view. I stopped in for a cocktail after my Danube evening sightseeing cruise and yes, it's a cookie cutter Marriott. Not that it wasn't nice, I'm sure it is but the bar/lobby could be in any hotel in any country. Also the Porc and Pretzli restaurant was fantastic. I didn't have a reservation but it wasn't an issue-I suggested that I'd just arrived and this had been recommended by a colleague. Thanks again for everyone who offered suggestions! I loved Budapest more than I expected and I'd go back in an instant. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bb9ffc8520.jpg Sitting area https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c3f0e4b3d1.jpg Comfy bed https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...972d439d6d.jpg Birthday treat https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6105849564.jpg Lobby/meeting area https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...98c3ffdf4c.jpg Birthday breakfast dessert! My server got me treats both days I had breakfast when he worked. One day he was off and the last day I left at 5AM but hotel gave me a to go bag of continental breakfast items! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a916579437.jpg Bar/restaurant https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1276171017.jpg Bathroom-hidden behind wall! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...949e03b351.jpg Heated floors are awesome! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7473faf05b.jpg WC, also hidden in behind wall https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fe982cc73f.jpg Sink area-WC and shower are behind the checkerboard! :D |

Just returned from my 5 nights stay from W Budapest.
Lovely property by all means. The hotel is conveniently located by Opera and can be accessed by various public transportations. The spa, breakfast at Nightingale restaurant, and the room condition are all perfect. My mom and I loved the enthusiasm by the staffs. They really do seem to like working there. The breakfast is very good. Good coffee, fresh fruits, and good eggs Benedict. The staffs were pleasant and attentive. My mom and I enjoyed long breakfast every morning. Platinum elite. Got upgraded a cozy suite upon arrival, proactively was offered late check out option until 4 pm and breakfast as welcome amenities. The GM Igor Buecher sent us a handwritten letter and a dessert to the room shortly after check in. Oddly, the highlight of this property was the housekeeping. They had a dedicated staff who took care of the room for 5 nights and she was awesome. I am staying at PH Vienna at the moment, and the housekeeping at W Budapest is way superior IMO. It looks like the GM is reading this thread so the lovely staff's name is Irma; I asked for her name a night before my departure. Would definitely return to the property in the future, a lovely hotel in a lovely city. |
Just completed a five night stay here and everything said so far continues to be true!
It IS a beautiful property - so much so that tour groups come through the lobby to marvel at the architecture. The location is perfect with a subway stop right in front and it's either one stop or a short walk to the Octogon, which is the cross roads of streets and tram lines. The Service is amazing - one of the best Teams across any Marriott (or Hilton) I've stayed at (I am lifetime elite at both chains). The breakfast buffet is different each day and you have a choice of ala cart items like omlets, avacado toast or - my favorite - Hungarian Toast (which is a bit like the Hungarian dish called Langos). Finally, the rooms are gorgeous. We were upgraded to a Suite and it was our biggest hotel room during this European trip. I sent an email to Igor the GM calling each staff member out by name for their great service: Adam (bellhop), Rose (W hostess), Alice (front desk), Sophia (front desk), Peter (concierge), Mikolos (concierge), Martin (food server), Maua (food server). |
I recently stayed here for a few nights in large part due to the very positive feedback from this thread, and I was very happy I did! As a Marriott Gold, I was upgraded to a very nice suite which is very spacious and well appointed. The staff including the concierge was incredibly helpful, and I very much enjoyed my stay!
The location is really perfect, as it's across the street from the Opera, and in walking distance to many local sites. I highly recommend this property and would certainly stay again. |
