Moxy Belgrade, Serbia [Master Thread]
A very welcome addition to Marriott's rather meagre portfolio in the country, Moxy Belgrade is opening in March 2023. The location is fantastic (basically on the other side of the block from the Hilton) and, whatever one may think of Moxy, it's great that Belgrade is getting a youthful brand to match the vibe of the city itself. As long as they manage to keep the rates in a reasonable range (sub-100 EUR), I foresee a big success.

Now opening on 7th March. As luck would have it, I'm visiting Belgrade next weekend and need a place to stay, so I'll give the new Moxy a run.

Fulfils expectations
Introduction Well, as promised, reporting back from the freshly opened Moxy Belgrade. It's not going to be a very long review, as a Moxy is a Moxy after all, but here are the main impressions. Check In Arrived literally days after the opening, so much so that there were still balloons at the hotel entrance. The system is still a bit buggy, so checking in took slightly longer than usual, but the staff seems to know what they're doing (some of them got transferred over from the city-centre Courtyard). They're not very good at distinguishing levels of Marriott status yet, though, so I was offered the choice between breakfast & 500 points as a mere Gold member. I took the points because a weekend in Belgrade is too short to be wasted on hotel food. Room The room is cookie-cutter Moxy, so no surprises there. The sink has a relatively spacious area for cosmetics, which was much appreciated by my SO. I was surprised, however, to see that the bathroom door already had significant scratches, and the shower floor tiles weren't angled correctly, so that a puddle remained in the middle after showering. Not a huge deal, obviously, but a strange miss for such a new hotel.There was a cute welcome waiting in the room: Service Everyone at the hotel was very polite throughout the stay - I'd even say too polite for a Moxy, as they address guests in a super-formal way more reminiscent of a legacy brand. They also go out of their way to assist with the luggage if needed, which is above the usual brand standards. Dining The only welcome beverage offered was the Foxy Moxy cocktail. This struck me as somewhat strange considering that Serbia at least has a wide range of quality, cheap alcohol. I didn't eat at the hotel, but there is an ensuite "gastro-bar" at the ground floor. I had a look at the menu and the fare seems somewhat above standard for a Moxy. Location Perhaps the greatest advantage of the hotel. The hotel is basically on the same block as the Hilton, in one of the busier areas of Belgrade, and eminently convenient for public transport, including the A1 airport shuttle that stops less not even 200m away from the hotel (a blessing for those of us who prefer not to deal with dodgy airport taxi drivers). I never had trouble finding a taxi or ride-sharing service, not even on Saturday night. Cons There were a couple of things I didn't like: The gym is in the basement, adequately equipped but rather small. However, it didn't seem to be getting much attention by the housekeeping staff, whose quarters are ironically right next to the gym, which ensures a certain amount of staring passers-by while you work out. The floor was obviously not cleaned between our two morning workout sessions, and the towels didn't seem to have been refilled either.The hotel doesn't have a luggage storage room, relying instead on ridiculously narrow lockers on the ground floor. They are so small that not even a standard carry-on bag will fit if it's a bit wider (we tried). The staff was happy to keep the problematic bag behind the reception counter, but I'm not sure how they'd handle several people with big pieces of luggage. Overall I paid €89 per night for a double room w/o breakfast, which is quite competitive considering the location. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and in fact will probably make this my default hotel in Belgrade going forward, now that the Metropol has left Marriott.

Looking at a long weekend trip to Belgrade (first time there) and saw both the Moxy and the Courtyard. €40 per night difference between the 2 of them though.
Is the Moxy at a nice walkable distance (I saw 20min on Google Maps) to the "center" of the city where the touristy stuff are? Or is there any easy bus or trams that get there? Any recent reports? Is the lobby/common area packed and busy and noisy like most Moxy's? :) |

Had a one-night weekend stay here. Welcome drink and breakfast were typical Moxy. The breakfast was perhaps even a bit better than the standard. Moxy is one of the brands with the most consistency - I got what I was expecting..

I was told by reception it would not work with a non Serbian number, but I had no issues with an EU phone number. |
I just realized i never posted my review from last year :) but I confirm the food at this Moxy is better than your average Moxy. I had dinner there twice and it was good and cheap.

One other thing - this property did take a deposit on my credit card a few days before my stay, which showed up as Pokret Park - no, it’s not a hack.

Jan 2025 stay
I had a one night stay at this property - as the Hilton was going for 900-1000€ pernight! My rate did include breakfast.
Sadly my experience was not as good as ElevatorEnthusiast but more like of cbellero Booked a Dream Queen room and that's what I received, with no other additional arrival gift (like I've received at other Moxy's in Europe). Elite recognition - as what was written on paper for a Titanium. I selected the 10USD as arrival gift. Staff: Ok in general - nothing too friendly nor unfriendly. Breakfast: I thought it was ok'ish. From spread point of of view it was ok - except I found the quality to be slightly on the low side. One main advantage is the possibility to make fresh juice (they had a juicer). I am not sure how much it will be charged, but I do not think it will be of value if it's more than 12-15€. Room: Was ok - luckily one could open the window if the room was too hot (in the winter). I'm not sure how effective the climate control would be in the summer. Bed was ok. TV options were ok - although the YouTube functionality did not work. Shower pressure and temperature was good. Only missing thing is hooks to hang towels after use. Cons - which I am not sure if it's a Moxy standard, but at least in the few I've stayed around Europe, coffee and tea was always complimentary and one could get it at the lobby area and work around. At this property, it is not (only available during breakfast) - when I went to get one, I was informed by the staff that it was not complimentary. I did not at least feel that welcome in the lobby lounge area compared to other Moxy's at this property. Only nice thing about this property is that the restaurant attached to it is a proper GastroBar - which does seem to attract locals. I had my dinner here and I can say that the quality of the food was good - with good service. Price wise, it was actually quite comparable to other places outside of the property (and just slightly 100-300 RSD more compared to those food kitchen). Location: The A1 bus from the airport stops quite close by, however for the free public transportation, one would need to change bus. Other than that, not much around the area, although walking towards Republic Square, it will just be shops along the way. Quite some eateries around and a supermarket just across the road. All in all, will only return if the price difference with the Hilton is big, if not I will most probably go for the Hilton (or maybe even try out the Courtyard).
