Looks great

Just came back from Bucharest last week. I was disappointed with the JW and it's location. Thus I stayed in the Sheraton off Plata Romana, which was centrally located and close to the University. As you noted, the Sheraton offered as much but for a much lesser price. Bonus was there's a Benihana on-site as well and bakeries around.

This is my go to property in Bucharest. Used to be the JW before the Marmorosch opened, now it's not a question which one to chose.

(here the SNA went thru in December, when I last stayed here)

Completed a two-night stay here. Beautiful space, delicious breakfast, serious issues with staff.

I spent 10 days traveling all over Romania accompanied by Romanian friends I met during my first visit some 25 years ago. Incredibly kind but simple people. Wearing Shein outfits, struggle with the big city and have to ask for directions to Caru cu Bere three times on the 200m walk. One of them weighs some 250lbs. This wasn't a problem anywhere else in Romania, nor at Andaz Munich or IC Paris or SR Florence, where we met up in the past. But it was at the Marmorosch. Front desk staff gave us disapproving, almost hostile looks whenever we passed. Sat down to have drinks in the main hall on the first floor, and they were reluctant to serve us.

Had booked two rooms on points, one Sat-Mon for myself, one Sat-Sun for my guests. Night prior to arrival, app shows upgrade to Gold (larger guestroom) for the Sat-Sun reservation, and no upgrade (Silver) for Sat-Mon reservation. At checkin, told that there's no availability for Sat-Mon, so ended up putting my guests in the Gold room and I stayed in the Silver (standard) room. Checked app, and everything was wide open for Sat-Mon -- Gold, Gold Deluxe, Platinum, Titanium, Heritage. Now, I know that inventory shown on the app isn't necessarily accurate, but what are the odds of all room types being incorrectly shown as available?! This was also evidenced by occupancy at breakfast; Sun morning was significantly busier than Mon morning, so I'm 99% confident that "we don't have a better room available for the 2-night stay" was a lie.

The Silver rooms are tiny -- mine couldn't have been more than 18-20 sqm. My window faced a construction site and an old building with lots of graffiti, and a narrow street with the occasional moron revving his engine or ambulance driving by at 3am. From the floorplan, some rooms overlook the Romanian central bank (which I suspect would be a beautiful view), some have courtyard (or even no?) view. Not sure if rooms on floor 5 and up overlook the rooftops, which could be nice.

Breakfast was the saving grace. Excelent buffet with high quality items, sparkling wine brought to the table, and a long list of items made on-demand, including delicious pancakes, french toast, and eggs benedict. The vault bar also looked amazing, but I didn't have time for a drink on Sat, and it was closed on Sun.

Overall, great breakfast, super central location and a great building, but I won't be back. Gonna try the new IC next time.

Does anyone know which types of room would guarantee a bathtub? And by any chance someone has the email for this property? Thank you.

I have been informed by the front office the only rooms that have a free standing bathtub are: the Heritage rooms, with a total of 4 in the entire hotel, one platinum junior suite, and one titanium suite with balcony. All else have walk-in showers.

Stayed 3 nights here and had a wonderful time. I booked two rooms, one a suite ("Titanium") for myself/wife/kid, and the other a "Larger Gold" (for parents). The property proactively upgraded the second room to a Titanium as well -- very similar but slightly smaller than ours. (Ours, the larger one, was on the 4th floor; the smaller one was on the 5th floor.)

Agree with the comments about front desk being a little impersonal/aloof, but by no means impolite. We used the hotel's transfer service for our arrival which was a reasonable 370 RON for a V-Class van including a child seat -- and the driver was excellent. We were all offered sparkling wine upon arrival. I was told that breakfast would be included for one room only, so we had to pay 20 euro/person for parents to have breakfast, but it was worth it for us all to be able to eat together. (Breakfast is 25/person, but 20 if you add it at check-in for all days.) Breakfast spread was nice, omelet station was good, and several dishes from the kitchen were available, along with self-serve sparkling wine.

The spa/pool area is very nice and relaxing, and my wife says the massage was excellent.

Location is fabulous, you're walkable from everything but you're just far enough from the chaos of old town that the noise isn't an issue (maybe it would be if you're a light sleeper... but our 2 year old slept just fine).

For our last full day, I picked up a rental car (I used Sixt at the Radisson) and we drove up to Peleș Castle, then did the gondola ride at Sinaia, and then went to Therme on the way back in -- a wonderfully packed day. Therme is the coolest water park I've ever seen, and it's like a water paradise for adults and kids alike. We were able to then drop off the rental car at the airport before our flight out the next morning, easy peasy.

I don't foresee another trip to Bucharest specifically in the near future (I would love to road-trip across eastern Europe and see smaller places) -- but I can heartily recommend the Marmorosch and would return if I stayed in the city again.

A few weeks ago, stayed 4 nights (cash rate) and upgraded to a Heritage Room for 3 nights. Heritage Rooms have a free standing bathtub and heated flooring in the bathroom. Location is great, no noise issue. Elite breakfast is good, buffet style with à la carte menu for made to order eggs, pancakes, French toast etc. Staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. Bar and room service good.

I still don’t know how to pronounce the name of this hotel and continue to embarrass myself each time I attempt to say it. Oh, well, here are my impressions and photos:

Pros:
  • Bed was generally comfortable (except for the covers) - plush mattress, plush pillows
  • Views were nice facing the front - loved the old building with all of the birds
  • Shower pressure was good and satisfactory - I used the rainfall head
  • Great caramel bars left as a welcome gift
  • At some point, they delivered a voucher for the Vault Bar, but I didn’t notice it until the morning so couldn’t partake
  • Had to ask, but no problem with 3 PM late checkout
  • Great location - very walkable to central restaurants
  • Elite breakfast was good - good omelet, great pancakes from the menu, coffees a bit small and only from machines (JW and Sheraton have baristas)

Neutral:
  • Only upgraded to Gold Deluxe, Heritage showed available night before but not morning of - guess it’s fine if that really was availability

Cons:
  • Bed covers too thin
  • Shower seemed to have flooding problem under the sink counter

I would come back, but please fluff up the duvets!
