Weird that the new Chase card is excluded from this above list...

Also surprising that the Ritz card which is not available to new applications is on it, when the $95 AMEX one is not

This is not a shot at Lurker and all the good work Lurker does for us, but someone at Marriott needs to get real. All these alliterative "B" words has not created cool marketing. It has just made a confusing mess out of all these cards. What is a "Bevy" card supposed to mean? Fire the cool marketing team and hire some adults.

It is disappointing that the lurker account has posted an advertisement.

The Lurkers works for Marriott and provides information, helps FTers as well as posts what they are asked to post.

Nothing is free.

Seriously?! A post like this? It's like a big slap on my face as it's something I can't get as I don't live in the US!

For one, definitionally, starting a thread to post an ad is not "lurking."
Some posts contain information. information would be great in the existing threads about these cards where people have questions. This is ad copy (for a product sold by Chase).

Not sure why you are surprised by this. They started a thread last month on changes to the business card. How is this different?

Not sure what there is to be uptight about. The Lurkers and other company representatives start threads all the time such as all of the other threads regarding new products offered by their respective companies. Their status discloses their relationship to the companies that the represent.

This is allowed and ok.

I find this post to be particularly low on information in it's sale of a financial services product. It may be allowed on FT, but that doesn't make it gauche. (Putting aside the lack of disclosures for Chase Bank, the company actually selling the product). Perhaps you don't see a difference between this post and typical "Now announcing a new breakfast benefit" , as it certainly is one of degree, but I do. I think it's a slippery slope between posts like this and a new thread here everytime there's a new offer for an existing credit card product. From a housekeeping perspective, it's going to lead to unnecessary multiple threads about the "new" or "refreshed" cards. Of course this one has the least information and is only phrased positively

Did you expect the lurker to come here and say "hey we have a new $250 card but it sucks. It costs two and a half times the equivalent Hilton card, and gives you fewer benefits. Sign up now!"

They are coming here and posting the information. If they were monitoring the comments, that's a different story. I don't see anything wrong with them posting about a promotion, and let everybody else voice their opinion and people can draw their own conclusions.

This seems nonresponsive to what I said. There are existing threads saying the new card sucks. There is now a new thread that is ad copy from Chase that seems qualitatively different from providing information, and certainly from "lurking". The lurker accounts were originally designed to provide information and assistance to FT members. More and more, all they do is say "message us privately we'd love to hear more", and, apparently, place ads for free. This will also likely drive Search traffic away from the more critical threads about the financial products Marriott is marketing on behalf of Chase.

We disagree about this, and that seems to be all there is to it.

I don't see anything inappropriate for Lurker to post information about new credit card offerings. It is a little strange that Chase Bountiful Card was not listed though. It is on Chase website already.
