I am intrested too...

I'm not sure this offer is something that should be promoted. YMMV.

Buying (or selling) such an account would be deemed fraudulent by Marriott BONV°Y.

Yes, which is why there shouldn't be any talk of this on FT...thread should be closed.

Unfortunate that this kind of scamming exists and consistently seems to emanate from the same places.

It is Marriott that is diluting the program and eroding benefits not some ppl trying to find loopholes.

https://loyaltyworld.ca/

This site sells status (I don't know how they do that for people who have no status to start with) and will do mattress run for you for a fee. 110% dodgy and apparently all the hotels and airlines are ok with them.

@Marriott Bonvoy Lurker II

That's why it HAS to be on FT because we need Marriott knows that we are not happy with people literally buying status just like that. If we keep mentioning it and Marriott doesn't even lift a finger, then we know what kind of company Marriott is.

Please help me to tag the lurkers.

then i've been a proud contributor to that for 20+ years :) (along with countless ft-ers)

rather amusing hypocrisy to complain about other folks given what we do here at the very same time ;)

There is a difference between getting a good bargain and stealing. Some folks don't know where to draw the line.

I would tend to agree with you, however, I think it's against the FT rules, and certainly the spirit, to blatantly promote scamming the programs we discuss here.

I think some on this thread are walking a fine line between promoting and reporting.

I actually PMed Hilton lurker once and nothing seems to have happened. That's why I'm trying to see if we can all tag the lurkers here to see if they are willing to do something.

Perhaps Marriott wants more guests from China so they work with Alibaba to promote these programs.

These kind of deals are ubiquitous in China so I don’t see why we should suspect it’s fraud or unfair.

Well over on the Air Canada Forum you'll find that AC has turned off Family Sharing and for a while there were lots of Partner Availability issues due apparently to rampant fraud coming out of China and India so I would be surprised if this isn't fraudulent as well.

If it isn't fraudulent then it definitely devalues the Marriott Bonvoy experience for all of the existing Members who earned their status the hard way...but as a betting man, I'd say something isn't Kosher here.

I've said it before and I'll repeat it again: Marriott clearly doesn't care about rewarding members who specifically earn status "the hard way" because there are numerous official status fudges involving credit card subscriptions for its largest market of US residents who similarly clog up and devalue executive lounges around the world in territories where the hotels still offer good status benefits. No sense getting upset about status programmes in China that those of us who are not US residents view as equivalently unfair. That's not to say that third parties who sell status shouldn't interest Marriott's lawyers but the OP's point of this thread highlighted apparently legitimate ways of gaining status through legitimate Chinese retailers just as Amex apparently does.
