Le Méridien Hualien Resort, Taiwan [Master Thread]

Started construction in 2014 and was initially scheduled to open in 2017, then delayed to 2020, and then 2022.

https://www.ettoday.net/news/20171230/1083090.htm

Now it looks like we are getting closer to the real opening date as the Marriott page invites you to call to book

https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...sort/overview/

Anyone have any inside info on this hotel?

Most new Marriott builds like the Kaoshuing Marriott and Taichung Moxy have a rough few months after they initially open. Expecting the same for this one too. The Le Meredien in Taipei is quite nice, and you would think they would send staff over to help open it but knowing Taiwan's low standards for F&B I don't expect much.

This one has been endlessly delayed, and accommodation standards on the East Coast are hardly impressive, so I'm not holding my breath.

The hotel has been delayed so much that the Le Meridien Taichung (which the owners were reportedly desperate to get rid of) might actually open before it: https://udn.com/news/story/7241/6393424

When did "China" get added to this thread title? Can this be reported?

Now being targeted for second quarter of 2023, along with a Le Meridien in Banqiao: https://www.chinatimes.com/realtimen...3003604-260410

Agree. Why is there China in the title?

Anyone know where I could sign up to get notices for booking when they open it up?

Apparently opening by the end of the year. Will be going to Taiwan for new years so hopefully I'll be able to try it out!

Two more months left in the year and its still not open, nor there's any indication that construction is even continuing.

Will be there in early March 2024 and Marriott shows it’s still unavailable to book… 🫣

Has anyone been by it recently? Does it look complete?

Estimating 13K NT a night! NO THANK YOU

https://www.cna.com.tw/news/aloc/202312263002.aspx

Much more cost efficient to go to Japan or a neighboring county

Just checked the rate for some dates next month Jan/2024. It's not 13K points, but more than 3 times that.

For purchase rate, it's >Cad$530. That's nosebleed rate range for me. No thanks.
