Hotel Blocks Titanium 48-hour Guarantee for a Month

According the Marriott help desk (per the agent I spoke to) the Residence Inn Boston Downtown/South End is blocking Titanium overrides starting on May 7 and extending into early June.

Does anyone know if Marriott sets a maximum number of days that a property can black out?

I would suppose so contractually but Marriott doesn't care about us as customers only the franchisee owners.

College graduation is long over here... that was mostly during the two weekends prior to memorial day weekend.

I do miss when the override of the 48-hour guarantee was a very, very rare event that required significant justification and approval by very high levels in Bethesda. In years past, it was exceedingly rare (like Super Bowl, Boston marathon, etc.) for this benefit to be blocked out. Now, it seems like pretty much anytime I do a hotel search, even for just a couple of weeks in the future, there are properties that show up as sold out. I've given up on thinking of this as an actual elite benefit.

Agreed, more often then not it seems that the elite guarantee is nothing more than just a space available normal booking now.

It really defeats the purpose when the 48-hour guarantee can be blocked during high demand periods. That whole purpose of the guarantee is to be able to book a room during a high demand period!!
