Sheraton Nice Airport, France [Master Thread]

Hi All

I recently stayed in the this property and it does not have a dedicated thread so far, so I allow myself to write a few points of feedback:

The hotel opened end of May 2022 so is rather new. It is conveniently located to the airport (opposite T1 and a tram ride away (2 stops) from Terminal 2).
You can take the tram into the city - every 8mins and you will be in the city center for EUR1,50 within 20min. The ride to terminals is free of charge.

The hotel is still very new at point of writing so staff is very keen to make a good first impression. Online chat worked well for me.

I asked to get a room towards the airport (which was granted as an upgrade) so I had a great view towards the terminals and the sea (from the 4th floor) which was nice for me as Avgeek.

Room are spacious and of course very new. The pool is nice with plenty of loungers (during my stay there were max 4 people at the same time) and the rooftop is excellent suited for plane spotting towards the apron and runways.

There is also a nice pool on top plus a roof top bar. Breakfast was ok - nothing to write home about - and I had the impression its a better continental breakfast, a little bit disappointing (eggs/ sausages/ cheese/ salami and yoghurts and limited fresh fruits, no international options).

Staff was generally very friendly.

A few minor criticisms:

- I found the pillows to be super soft - too soft for my liking.
- the pool is nice, but practically unattended. I wanted to have a few beers and had to walk all time to the roof top bar to order, otherwise I would have simply left been dry.
- at the breakfast several elites - including myself - received invoices for breakfast despite being included. Staff said they cannot check who has status and who hasn't.

In summary a good stay in a great location for the airport and easily accessible to the center of Nice. Given that the Le Meridien often tends to be rather expensive in peak season, I can recommend this new addition to the portfolio of Marriott hotels in Nice.

Any questions, please reach out.

How can I walk from the terminal to this hotel?

Google Maps still shows the sight as a hole in the ground before it was built. Do I have to walk all the way around to the back (front?) side of the hotel on Ave de Gr. or can you simply walk across Prom Anglais and gain entry?

Thanks,
-RM

From Terminal 2 (the AF terminal) you need to take the tram and leave at the next station after T1

From Terminal 1 you can walk it in 5-8mins. Just follow the tram; you'll walk under an underpass (under Prom d. Anglais) and directly afterwards (on the left side I believe coming from the terminal) there's a stair case which takes you up to Prom d. Anglais. From there you walk towards Nice Centre and you'll be almost directly in front of the main entrance (about 30 seconds walk).

Hi, thanks for the review!
Did you get access to the Sheraton Club Lounge?
Do you recommend a visit?

Hi, when I was there unfortunately the lounge was still under construction so could not try it. Would probably have skipped it anyway in the evening given the great sea/ airport views you have from the Sky Bar. As the breakfast was slightly basic in the main restaurant I would expect that the lounge isn't that outstanding either.

Definitely would recommend a visit especially if prices for the Le Meridien are ridiculous and you can't get a proper sea view room there. If you are interested in plane spotting, place to be in Nice. Otherwise you are in 10min downtown via tram and you'll get a brand new hotel for the price (I assume you've been to the LM and know how dated it is).

We stayed at the hotel for two nights as it is very conveniently located near the airport. Terminal 1 can be reached on foot in about 5 minutes, and Terminal 2 can be reached by tram in front of Terminal 1, which is free. The city center is about 5 km away, again you can catch either a bus in front of the hotel or a tram 400 meters behind.

The rooms are normal in size, with comfortable beds and a large bathroom.

Our room had a view of the airport, seeing planes take off and landing but no noise.
The service at the hotel was very good.

I am a Marriott Titanium and have club lounge access. Breakfast was in the main restaurant (various and with outdoor seating). The loinge itself is small and open all day, they have soft drinks and beer, and occasionally they bring out small canaps to eat.

The biggest plus of the hotel is the great pool with a rooftop bar. It is quite large and has great views of the airport. Overall, it feels like a resort hotel, not an airport hotel.
I highly recommend the hotel...

Beware of rooms x47

Just had a nice stay at the Sheraton Nice, but want to warn people from staying at the x47 rooms.
The rooms are corner rooms at the front of the hotel and are actually nice, accept for the bathrooms.
The bathrooms don't have shades. The have put some protective foil on the windows, but they only help during the day. If you use the shower in the night and switch on the light everyone on the street and the airport terminal can see you in all your glory.

Strange that no one from the hotel noticed this so far.
Reported it to the manager. Hope they do something about it.

Had a couple of nights here in last few weeks. Nice, modern hotel and very good for an airport hotel. I got a junior suite for first stay which had a large terrace that overlooked an office building, so a bit odd. Second stay got a room in the curved part that had a very small window and a weird dark area with a single chair. Both rooms were fine but a bit strange.
Rooftop is fun but we were there on a weekend and its clear many locals come in to use the pool. It was very busy and also very clear these were not people overnighting before a flight. Kind of like a slightly sleazy W scene.
This said, would happily stay again, location cannot be beaten for after/before a flight and very nice staff.

I recently stayed at this hotel in June and while the building was nice, the staff was rather hostile and unpleasant for our stay... which we didn't expect from non-Parisians. C'est la vie.

Really? I was actually going to comment on how small the rooms look. The room seems barely bigger than the two single beds.

Well, since I live in Europe and almost all my trips are here, I think they are normal. If we compare them with Asia or the USA, they will be small ...

I think it's the other way around, actually. I had a standard room and they are closer to what one would expect from NYC than a typical European hotel. I had larger rooms in Courtyards in Europe.

Whilst the hotel is overall good for an airport hotel, I would definitely not use the word 'resort' to describe it as earlier in the thread.

Yep, I agree, they look like some of the smaller rooms I've had in New York City too.

They also look smaller than most Sheraton rooms I've seen pictured in Europe (though admittedly I haven't stayed in many others, I'm just going by photos).

The rooms would look small even for a Four Points, which is why I'm surprised the property is a full-fledged Sheraton with rooms that size.

Aside from the two single beds, there isn't even space for a significant piece of furniture, like a desk. It seems like there's just a small built-in couch and a small table.

Out of curiosity, I looked at photos of the other Sheraton airport hotels in Europe. Granted, these are professional corporate marketing photos taken with wide lenses and such, but just by looking at how much furniture they can fit in the rooms, the rooms at Nice Airport definitely look smaller.

Paris: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...-hotel/photos/
Dusseldorf: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...-hotel/photos/
Amsterdam: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...center/photos/
Brussels: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...-hotel/photos/

Milan is probably the best comp as a modern Sheraton airport hotel, because the others were built in the late 80s and early 90s. The standard rooms there look quite a bit larger

The only rooms that look equally small are at Frankfurt Airport, but that hotel was built in 1975.
