Duration of stay changed while in hotel

So I checked into a Marriott property on April 8th. Check-out is scheduled for May 3rd, a total of 25 nights. Full amount paid upon check-in on the 8th.

I randomly checked my Marriott app today and noticed that my current stay is showing as April 16-May 3. Somehow my stay was reduced in the system from 25 to 17 nights. I checked my “past stays” and nothing is showing there.

i went to the front desk and they said they have no clue what happened and that I should contact Marriott.

i have done so, but while i am waiting, i was wondering if anyone else ever experienced this? My gut feeling tells me i will never receive the points / nights for April 8-16 unless it is fixed manually.

I've seen the same before on some of my previous stays where the dates would "shorten" when on the app (for messaging the hotel or whatever). My nights and points have always posted correctly.

In the end, I think as long as you have your invoice, you should be good but I don't think you'll have any issues based on my previous experience.

I recently had a 30+ day stay that posted in 2 blocks. The front desk told me (can’t say if this is true or not) that they had to close out the folio every $1000. Maybe the same has happened to you?

It's true that many hotels prefer to bill long stays at regular intervals (one week or a thousand dollars can be typical), but they don't need to change the dates to do so. IME you earn points shortly after your credit card is charged and you can see the folio in your account.

My wife and I had a four-night stay, extended at the front desk to five the night before original check-out. She only received credit for the final night.

I submitted the folio online through the "Missing Stay" page of the Bonv°y app (or website, I forget which) and she was promptly credited with the missing four nights (plus promo nights) and associated points.

Be sure to get a digital copy of your complete and accurate folio e-mailed to you every time you pay the bill, and especially to get a paper copy, in case you have to scan it to submit for nights or points, or both.

Had this happen to me at W Amman last month. 4 night stay. Checked app mid stay and my reservation showed 3 nights only. The 1st night somehow disappeared mid stay.

But the next day after check out, all 4 nights as well as bonus nights and points were properly credited without having to do anything. Don't sweat it until after your stay posts

Thanks everyone - I will check what happens after checkout and report a missing stay form if needed.

Oh and keep your original email reservation and ask for a hard copy and email of your bill at check out. Just in case.

This is very common & I see this frequently on stays that are longer than a week. I've never had a problem receiving credit for the correct number of nights.

Yeah - I has the same in December. We had a 10 night stay at a property in Dubai, but the first 3 nights dropped off.

Strangely, I only got the points for the first 3 nights initially. I filed a missing points claim, and it was sorted within 24 hours. There then followed lots of random activity on my account... mostly in my favour :D
