Hotels with no availability - ever.
What does it mean when hotels like this never have a room available all year? https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...tion/overview/
There was another one in Florida I couldn't find availability all year either. I thought it was Crystal Shores but it may have been another South Florida property. |
I'm also very curious about this! I would think it's because of a renovation, closure, or update... but it appears to have been renovated in 2019 and there are Jan 2021 reviews!

Maybe you can only book by phone?

Recently I was trying to book in an area for a wedding -- turns out it's graduation weekend, too. The Courtyard had no availability online but when I called they had several rooms --- two night minimum, but it worked out. It does seem odd that they would be blocked online for the whole year. |
I can assure you that much of Florida is 100% booked. Courtyards and Residence Inns which were going for <$150/night in 2021 are asking $400+ now, if they have any rooms available at all. Many don't. Hotels which air crews stay at have temporarily kicked them out because they'd rather get $300+/night than the contract $60/night deals. I've seen air crews put up at hotels >1 hr away from the airports recently.

I stayed at the place in Germany long before they became a Marriott, so it's not quite true that they never have availability (for money). It was lovely, but small, with all rooms in the castle-like building in the picture. |
Actually the correct way to book award nights is to tweet at Marriott, and then they respond with a DM and will put the property manager in contact with you to open space up for you personally.

Can we assume you're not looking for award (points or certs) availability?

I think it says it has 40 rooms (?) and it doesn't look like a gargantuan property. I was just trying to figure out rates for future trips and I can't even do that. |
I think it's in FHR. If you have access (the right card), call PTS/CTS and ask the (human) travel agent to check for availability and prices on their reservation system. My very rough *guess* would be about Euro 400 for a standard room and it wouldn't surprise me if all rates include a full German (cold) breakfast. Their well-known fine dining restaurant sadly seems to be gone.

Maybe they currently closed?
Can you find the hotel on other booking website like hotel.com or booking.com? |

We used to occasionally go to Florida for a cheap getaway, but I can't imagine going there and spending London or Tokyo prices on hotel rooms, short of doing something very unique in South Beach or the Keys. |
Could this have to do with the impending change to points redemption? I’ve been looking at properties in the Tampa/St. Pete area for a couple of weeks now, looking over and over to see if I could magically top up my CC certs during the rez process. Lo and behold, as of today, properties that had wide open availability are all completely unavailable. Every single one of them.

As far as I know Villa Rothschild is currently closed with an uncertain reopening date.
