Yes just saw that, but as you mentioned only on 5 or more and only on rooms. Suite at 30k bonus rate was still lowest on dates I searched.

Also for 5 or more nights, rate difference is about 15k JPY/night ($135) to get extra 20k points/night on room.

Heck for 5 nights you could also book award res with 200k points (avg. 40k/night) for Cat 7.

Glad someone found the details (they weren't there when I checked).
Rates look to be Ą53,900, and 20,000 points are generally worth about Ą10,000-Ą20,000 (in Japan), so a nice bonus but not huge. Free breakfast has no value as I get it already.

I have no idea if the hotel has a goodwill point or not, but I do know that MR property has to purchase points for all these individual property promotion offers. It is more common than you think during a pandemic, in Thailand Renaissance Bangkok offers 7,500 THB net (230 USD) and you get a choice between 20,000 bonus points or a weekday stay at Renaissance Pattaya for one night.

If I had to guess, they can get points pretty cheap (under .5 cents?). Suckers Dedicated loyal members like us get more excited about 20,000 bonus points than a $50-100 reduction in the room rate.

Especially since we assume we can get >1 cpp in redemption value.

Whether that's true after March, who knows.
