Does BRG work on weekends? I booked the non refundable rate on Bonvoy and have 24 hours to cancel. Will be canceling if I don't get a BRG response.
Yes.

Hotel Name: Sheraton Princess Kaiulani
Date of stay: Apr 23-24
Number of Guests: 1
Room Type: 2 Double
Marriott Brand Website Rate: $194 excluding taxes and resort fee
Competing Rate: ~130 at the time claim was submitted. Rate was gone for a while and right before they approved it a lower rate came back.
Actual Approved Rate: $141.74 excluding taxes and resort fee

Used hopper.com for the comparison rate. Pretty happy with this success. They should still have a live option though since the rate is constantly in flux at competing websites.

I am surprised they allowed using hopper.com since you need to register. Don't get me wrong I think they should allow for these kind of sites since registration is just a formality just like entering your name and cc details.

BRG Success

Hotel Name: The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler
Date of stay: July 19-22
Number of Guests: 2
Room Type: One Queen, Deluxe Studio
Marriott Brand Website Rate: $420 CAD
Competing Rate: $292 CAD
Actual Approved Rate: $219 CAD

The Marriott rate increased in the past day or two. However, Priceline still showed the price prior to the increase. I emphasized the rate was flexible and not an auction or name the price rate. It was great to get the old rate and get 25% off.

Has anyone had any luck with Expedia "Mobile exclusive" rates? I don't have high hopes, and i've never made a claim with one before. Since you don't have to be a member and its not hidden etc. I thought I'd give it a try.

I have had success with mobile rates on Booking.com, no reason why Expedia would not.
Also had BRGs approved with rates that require logging in.

I can see what **should** be BRG at the Hotel VIU Milan, use the popular OTA app mentioned above for comparison, should bring it down to around ~$210 per night, or are you looking for even lower rates than that?

I will add. that the bed types aren't great at the VIU though.

If I am able to find a normal "Guest room" on a 3rd party site for a really good rate, but the cheapest rooms bookable directly via Marriott are "Luxury" rooms which are by themselves much more expensive than the normal Guest rooms - will this still be accepted by BRG?

When it’s likely the same kind of room just a different name, I just use the term “standard double” and it seems to work. If one is more deluxe and it’s obviously a different room you out of luck. Although if you can find a cheaper luxury room open third party site that works as well.

No.
You can specify in the comment section that the room xyz is the base room of the hotel, so you can BRG with a "Guest Room" on the compelling site who will obviously match.
