Any risk to referring a stranger for Marriott Rewards

Any risk to referring a stranger for Marriott Rewards

someone via a forum like this asked me to refer them to get bonus points

curious if there is anyway this could be a scam and if it is safe to plug his email into the form :

The only risk is if the person you referred doesn't sign up.

I've messaged different folks on FT so that they could submit me and my e-mail address as a referral for things like branded credit cards and they received the points for the referrals.

You do what you think is right.

My experience is that Marriott referrals don’t work at all. I tried to refer someone as recently as last year and she never got the invitation. Has anyone had a different experience?

I referred my wife & son and their invitations went into their spam folders.

The only risk is that they join Bonvoy and have disappointing stays that they blame you for.

Great locations with the old SPG group now, excellent marketing, BUT lousy IT for the last 5 years, & toooo cheap to fix the IT.
For better IT go to Hyatt, but less locations at Hyatt
