Double Booking in 2 different cities
I am still fairly new to hotels/Marriott so please bear with me.
Myself and +1 will be staying at a Marriott in Las Vegas on 7/1 ~ 7/4. However, my companion will get to Vegas before me on 7/1, and I will get there on 7/2. I am also traveling, so I am planning on staying at a Boston Marriott on the night of 7/1 before coming to Vegas on 7/2. Will Marriott 1. let my companion check herself in on 7/1 in Vegas without me and 2. Will there be any consequences for double booking in different cities on the same day? They will all be reserved under my account / $. Thanks in advance! Just trying to make sure our 4th of July weekend trip goes smoothly. |
You list your companion as a second named guest and all should be fine.
Although you are breaking the rules of Marriott, you'll probably be fine. You might not get as many points as you expect though and you will only get one elite night credit for the 1st. |
I did this exactly thing and I didn't get points and nights for one of my stays due to the overlap... honestly it was a long time back and I might have been a Hilton person at the time.

It's not that simple to list your companion on the reservation. This will require either a call to Marriott or to the hotel direct. Also, when you make the Vegas reservation you will have guaranteed it with your credit card. In my experience, when your companion checks in they will require a credit card from them for incidentals and possibly the entire room charge. When you arrive make sure that you have them remove your companions card from the reservation and add yours to make sure you receive the points and any stay credit.

You will need to call ahead and add their name to Rez. I’ve been told It makes things easier for Marriott to add a name if you list 2 people as being in the room. (I usually forget that part) otherwise name is included in the comments. |
