Excellent news! I commend Marriott for making the right decision here while some other brands are still issuing free certs with only 6mo validity!
I've got a several speculative bookings in July that are using certs currently scheduled to expire on Aug 1st. Is it safe to assume that if I cancel these stays after May 7th the certs will be redeposited and still extended to Jan 2, 2022?

Of course, Marriott's IT systems behave erratically. Can anyone confirm?

Nice, this is helpful. For one, it means I won't have to burn a 35k cert on a suboptimal redemption in the next two months. And two, between our various cards we can do a 3-night stay at a 35k hotel sometime this fall.

My affected certs are still showing a 8/1/21 expiration. Must be a rolling process in getting these certs extended. In Marriott's defense, it's still May 6th (in Alaska, Hawaii, and America Samoa, at least!) - so there's still time!

Perhaps they're extending in waves. My 50k cert set to expire on 8/1 is still set to expire on 8/1, though I'm still not sure of the original expiration date. Any insights Marriott Bonvoy Lurker ?
