Get a 40% Bonus When You Buy or Gift Points, 16 Feb - 22 Mar 2021

The latest Marriott Bonvoy™ points promotion is here! You’ll get a 40% bonus when you buy or gift 2,000 or more points February 16 through March 22. And the annual limit has been doubled to 100,000 points — bonus points don’t count toward the limit. That means up to 40,000 bonus points could be yours with this offer.

Plus, if you buy points now, you can take your bonus further with up to 40% savings on standard redemption pricing when you book Off-Peak rates by February 21.

Looks to be about $.009 per mile. What kind of redemption rates are people getting with low occupancy and lower rates? Looked at a booking for next week and I would get $.0125 per mile which seems low to me. I also wonder about buying them to stockpile for when travel returns and pent up demand leads to sky high rates.

The problem with Bonvoy points sales is you can’t buy enough to actually redeem at a decent hotel thanks to the endless tide of devaluations over the last few years. How fortunate we are to have the chance to buy enough points to cover 1.5 nights in a Category 8 hotel on a peak date, especially as a suspicious amount of dates are “peak”...

Reading some of the threads and seeing how many FTs are interested and are trying to maximize lifetime elite night credits, just a suggestion to MR that maybe in the future promo can be get 40% (or 50%) bonus points AND up-to 40 (or 50) bonus lifetime elite nights credit. So you get 40 (or 50) bonus lifetime nights if you buy the maximum 100k at $1,250. Wouldn't make a difference to me as I'm already LTP unless MR opens LTT.

I received only the basic points in my account not the bonus points? Is there usually a delay in the bonus points coming?

You complain that hotel award nights cost more, yet you want to buy points but can't get enough.

See the paradox?

I always compare to the only sale that SPG had that enticed me to buy some points. They cost $0.0175/SPG pt. Divide that by 3 and you get $0.00583/MAR pt. With 50% bonus, current price is $0.00833/MAR pt. I’ll pass.

I really think one has to examine their own needs and value propositions.

In my case I need to complete nights and the cash price is 90€-123€ a night vs 9000points a night with the 5th night free the value is there.

But obviously in many cases that is not so clear.

I have not followed marriott buy promos but do they often have better ones?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that with a specific redemption in mind like yours, purchasing points can be justified.

This is as good as it gets with Marriott point sales. (I did take advantage of the gift card sale at 20% off.)

They did a 60% bonus deal in June 2020. Haven't seen it since...
