Is there an intention to get back to real personal Ambassadors? If so, when? It's just crickets from Marriott Bonvoy so far. We need information from Marriott to understand what to expect from the Ambassador Elite level going forward so we can adjust our expectations. Tell us something Marriott!!
This is spot on. The notion that anyone ought to target Marriott spend for Ambassador status when Marriott fails to provide even the most basic details about future service levels is rather mindboggling.

Though I would add that the writing is pretty clearly on the wall, and that anyone who expects anything except more program devaluations is going to be disappointed.

Got the generic "we see you booked a stay coming up, is it for anything special?" email and I replied that I was popping the question to my partner of almost 12 years, and asked if they had anything to help her say 'yes'.... didnt even get a joking reply. for an award stay costing over a million points with a $15,000 cash copay.

I suppose I was excited to get the email and thought the offer sounded great. But now understand that the ambassador service is worthless.

i emailed the Marriott personnel who replied above. Sent my email last. Ugh this and no response from them either. Oh well

That's never been Ambassador territory. If it's a decent hotel, the concierge can help with those things. Ambassador service can put you in touch with concierge if you don't feel like calling the hotel, but if you want quick service you're best off calling.

That refers to on-property amenities.

I'm pretty sure it was. But this was over 6-7 years ago. I remember calling my Ambassador to make table reservations for me and my friends at a dance club in Vienna. It was done over concierge of course but the emails were between me and my Ambassador.

I also remember my Ambassador provided me a list of go to restaurants in whatever city I was staying at. And I did remember the ad on SPG TV stating that kind of service.

My Ambassador also got me two tickets to a charity polo match hosted by Prince Harry but those (SPG) days are long gone sadly...you're lucky just to get your email answered now it seems

not if you had a great ambassador. I had two that provided excellent restaurant recommendations, often times form personal experience as they traveled often themselves.

So my birthday's coming up. Instead of gifts guess what I get?
A genetic email that's prob there to push more stays at their hotels. However I do already have a stay booked using points on my birthday so guess have to find out what their replies will be.
My guess is no more gifts.

As for restaurants I did asked them for help before and they did in fact recommended some restaurants. If your personal ambassador never been there before they will ask the local ambassador team. Guess that's gone now since they fired most personal ambassadors and replaced them with under-trained call center employees?

Just wondering, is anyone else experiencing 30+ minute hold times with the Ambassador line today?

In the past the Ambassador would reach out to the concierge at the hotel you were staying at and ask for advice on local restaurants and as the Ambassador generally knew your preferences and types of food, atmosphere you liked they could relay this to the concierge to enable them to give good advice. But yes I think that sort of level has service has long since gone from the generic Ambassador service. They are also so over worked now due to not enough Ambassadors and way to many Ambassador level guests who are now travelling that they just don't have the time even if they had the inclination.

My advice would be contact the hotel directly.

Got the reply from the birthday email yesterday. Just says we noticed you used your SNA and we hope you get an upgrade...

Great help there. And as I imagined no gifts.

Edit: Stay's coming up very soon, Hotel emailed me about the stay and even though I emailed the AMB team twice about this there's nothing from them for my birthday. Not even the generic email asking your checkin time. Thanks a lot Marriott!

Dear Mr. XXX,

Thank you for your email. I hope you are well.

My name is XXX from the Ambassador service team and it is my pleasure to assist you.

Congratulations on your upcoming 35. Anniversary!

As per your kind request, I contacted my colleagues at the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa and informed about your special occasion and asked to provide a recognition.

The Suite Night Awards are attached with a status Pending. As this is fully automatic process the system will start checking for the available upgrades 5 days before arrival and you will receive an update directly via email.

I am sure my colleagues at the hotel will do their best to offer you a memorable experience.

Should you need any further assistance, we remain at your disposal.

Wishing you a wonderful celebration in Mexico.

Best regards,

XXXX

I am impressed!!!

Today, 5-days before my check-in, I received notice from JW Marriott Cancun that I have been upgraded to 1345 square feet Ocean Front Large Suite. This is soooooo nice.

The Ambassador Service went through for me. I am very happy.

At least you didn't get the dread, "upgrades are subject to availability and never guaranteed" lecture. That's what I was told last time I mentioned "upgrade" to the so-called Ambassador Service.
You were wrong, somewhat.

I am pretty sure that the AMB service contacted the hotel and did some pushing.

In regards the SNA's they have done nothing, which is fair as they don't have any control in it. Equally it is certainly not a fully automated system, hotel revenue and room management decide what is released and which SNA's get approved these days.

There is nothing wrong with the response, to me it really does not seem that personal and it would be nice if Marriott comes clean about what the Ambassador service is going forwards rather than still advertising one thing and using Covid as a excuse for offering something else. Certainly if qualification goes back to normal next year they surely must adjust either what they advertise or what they offer!
Well, this is my first connection with the AMB service. It worked out pretty nicely.

Overall, excellent experience with MB AMB Service.

Nice to hear your SNA cleared, but I'm not sure I would draw any conclusions about the value of Ambassador status from a single experience, particularly given the large number of Ambassadors who are basing their conclusions about its value on a much larger data set.

And who continually and completely disregard any data that doesn't fit their preconceived notions. Count me as another satisfied Ambassador member who has had plenty of great experiences with Bonvoy both before and after the merger with Starwood. Has everything been perfect? No, and I've been clear here that overall Marriott's customer service has declined due to being merged with the inferior SPG program. But don't pooh-pooh everyone else's good experiences based on limited anecdotal, biased reports here on FT.
