Does Marriott usually have a promotion in January?

I don’t recall if it usually starts in February due to typical holiday travel the first two weeks of January. I am thinking they should announce something because 1st Quarter travel will still be slow.

Nothing is going "as usual" right now. Marriott doesn't have any global promotion running while the entire competition is doing something.

Is there going to be a promotion? Nobody knows, I wouldn't count on it when booking my trips and rather switch to a chain where I know that I they give me something extra.

They may feel they don’t need to right now. Better to keep hotels at low capacity, skeleton crew, etc.

The question I have is are they going to do some kind of “Welcome Back” promo in Q3 this year.

IMO, Marriott hasn't had a worthwhile promo since mid-2019. What you can pretty much count on is that any promo will lag the competition, both in timing and generosity.

Marriott promotion

Marriott offered me 22,500 points: 6,000 after my second stay, 7,500 after my third and 9,000 after my fourth. Marriott gives me 3 months to complete this.

There is a targeted promotion right now. I get 2x points/night. My husband gets a tiered bonus for the first three stays, something like 6K/7.5K/9K for a total of 22.5K. This ends 31 March 2021. Log into your Marriott account and check the promo tab.

Typo or a pretty generous time frame?

They aren’t targeting this Titanium with $10k spend and 150 EQNs for sure...

I think Marriott has decided they don't need to offer promos to their most loyal clients. They have that revenue in the bag.

They seem to be targeting people based on how much potential "additional value" they think they can extract from them, at least with the current round of private promos.

I hope that they will do a Q1 general promo as well, but I am doubtful it will be even close to as generous as the Hyatt promos.

Most likely but you aren’t going to like it. Marriott hasn’t had an exciting promo in a long time.

I was referring to end date of promo. You have 31 March 2022 in your post. I figured it was likely a typo.
