Follow-up: the first set of points (the base purchase) showed up today. So 36 hours later(ish)

How does one hold a reservation? I did not see that option anywhere or I would have done so.

If you don’t have enough points, you can use Points Advance, though you pay the amount of points at the time you confirm it with the full amount of points (if the amount changes). From the T&C:

3.6 Points Advance.

Members who seek to make an Award Redemption Reservation with an insufficient Point balance may make the Award Redemption Reservation and either (1) purchase Points (as described in Section 2.9) to make a valid Award Redemption, provided that the aggregate amount of Points purchased and/or received as a gift by the Member is less than or equivalent to 50,000 Points per calendar year; or (2) the Member accrues sufficient Points to use Points for payment of the Award Redemption no less than fourteen (14) days prior to Member’s arrival date. A maximum of three (3) Points Advance bookings are permitted to be maintained per Membership Account at any one time.

3.6.b. To finalize an Award Redemption reservation if a Member does not have sufficient Points to pay at the time of booking, once a Member has accrued sufficient points (no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the stay), Member can finalize the Award Redemption reservation online or by calling Member Support. The amount of Points required to finalize the Award Redemption reservation may change between the time of booking and the time that Points are deducted and the Award Redemption certificate is ordered and/or the member’s Free Night Award certificate(s) are assigned and attached to the reservation.

I believe Points Advance option is only offered if your reservation is more than 30 days out.

Didn’t see that in the T&C, just seems like it is more than 14 days out since you have to finalize it by that time. Section 3.6:

I think it’s anecdotal more than anything else. See posts # 189 and191 in this thread. You can also scroll back a few pages and find many more.

Ridiculous!

Same disaster like the gift card sale promotion where it took a week to get the gift card due to "unexpected popularity of the sale" without the option to cancel the transaction again.

Is this a global company or a lemonade stand?

Hey, lets not start insulting lemonade stands, even they would have better IT than Marriott!

No such option was offered to me, so that would make sense. (This reservation was for 12/12-12/14.)

My 50,000 points showed up after 3 days. Additional 30,000 points will probably wait for few more days.

According to the website, this seems to have been extended until 22nd December. Also, did anyone notice the error on the webpage, where it says it's only a 50% bonus(60% when you click on it and choose the points)?!

Did you actually read the 1st post? The 60% bonus is a one week offer.. after that it's 50% until 22 December.

Nah, some of us have a targeted offer on our accounts, but you'll only see the 50% on the landing page and you'll see the Nov date until you log in.

"Get 60% more points when you buy or gift 2,000+ points now through December 22, 2020.

Plus, you can purchase up to 200,000 points — that's quadruple the usual annual limit — between November 19 and December 22. The annual limit includes points previously purchased in 2020, but does not include the 60% bonus earned with this promotion."

Notice the quadruple limit as well, I suspect because I already hit my limit earlier this year so this allows me to buy another 100K + 60K.

Same here. I also saw another data point on Loyaltylobby reporting the same. I reported this to the champions email yesterday but was asked to wait another day. I've reached out again but have not yet had a response.

I'm keen to receive them to convert my points advance reservation to an e-certificate at the earliest possible opportunity.

Looks to me that Marriott is looking really aggressive for money. As AY did already. Sorry OT.
