We'll be traveling in (cooler) Hokkaido, Japan. Mostly in the countryside, and there are plenty of Japanese places to stay. Right now the government is paying 35% of our bill too (travel incentive), so finding a place that includes breakfast (and maybe dinner) is an option. Platinum would have been nice given it would last for over a year. However, some of the Bonvoy properties have closed their pools, hot springs etc. In any case, once vacation ends (mid-Sept), I won't have a chance to get 15 nights any other time in the next 3 months.

I went ahead and booked Hilton as a backup if I end up cancelling Marriott because of their shenanigans.

Nevertheless on the confusion, the tone of this reply from the CSR is terrible.

"Thank you for including eh links that I am already aware of. Please contact my Colleagues by phone for more information. I am just providing you the information I have been given from Marriott Head Office."

Agreed. The tone and the fact there are misspellings and incorrect capitalizations add to the lack of quality control when selecting CSR.

"I am already aware of" and clearly do not understand...

Hi JayTea,

May we ask you to forward the email reply to us so that we could have the associate's supervisor to review and conduct appropriate training?

Update - I heard back a few hours ago already. Wondering if we have to manually ask hotels to refresh existing reservations to reflect the upgraded status?

Yeah,I didn't mean to suggest that. Just that I received all the Platinum benefits I cares about as a Gold.

The status update came in sometime over the past 10 hours, well after the 12 they quoted, but I'll get to use it when I check in next Monday.

It has been 12 hours, but I am still Gold.

I'm currently in the middle of a stay at a Westin, though there's no lounge, the rate has free breakfast, and they gave me a suite upgrade, so I'm not sure I'm missing much. But I have something like 19 more nights across 3 more stays before the end of September, so we'll see.
So perhaps 3-4 business days is the norm now. It has been 48hrs for me now since I got the confirmation my docs had been received. Given I can't rely on status for tomorrow's stay, that will get canceled. Oh well, Marriott's loss is another hotel's gain.

A DP for those of you submitting with Hilton credentials, as I was successfully matched.

I did not have the folio from my latest stay either. I took a screenshot of the activity page with only stays listed, opened the points activity breakdown (shows 100% Diamond Bonus and MyWay bonus), and the profile overview in the top right that states your name, points balance, and status.

Update from me - still no emails received but I logged into my account just now and it’s now showing as Platinum ^

I’ve cancelled and rebooked my reservation for tomorrow to ensure the new status is logged for arrival.

I just received the email a few hours ago and the status is already updated to Platinum. Match from IHG Spire.

Just got the email, the request was done August 28th so it's pretty quick and the screenshot of the IHG account activity was sufficient. Now just waiting for my account to be refreshed as I have a stay tomorrow...

I received the same email an hour ago. However, my online status doesn't reflect Platinium yet. Maybe tomorrow. But, at least I was approved. Sent the folio and account status. Now, I'll go and book some more weekend stays.
