Definitely not the best marketing strategy on Marriott's part to quickly suspend a new status match program. The answer Marriott gave you is a no. Now, you have to figure out is it worth getting more nights with Marriott. How close are you to getting Platinum? Do you have other hotel programs that you are interested in?

Nevertheless on the confusion, the tone of this reply from the CSR is terrible.

The status update came in sometime over the past 10 hours, well after the 12 they quoted, but I'll get to use it when I check in next Monday.

I submitted my Hilton Diamond card and last folio on Aug 27 23:35 UTC+2. On Sep 1 0503 UTC+2, I received confirmation it had been approved, and "Your Platinum Elite status will be upgraded within 12 hours.".
It has been 12 hours, but I am still Gold.
I'm currently in the middle of a stay at a Westin, though there's no lounge, the rate has free breakfast, and they gave me a suite upgrade, so I'm not sure I'm missing much. But I have something like 19 more nights across 3 more stays before the end of September, so we'll see.

A DP for those of you submitting with Hilton credentials, as I was successfully matched.
I did not have the folio from my latest stay either. I took a screenshot of the activity page with only stays listed, opened the points activity breakdown (shows 100% Diamond Bonus and MyWay bonus), and the profile overview in the top right that states your name, points balance, and status.

Just got the email, the request was done August 28th so it's pretty quick and the screenshot of the IHG account activity was sufficient. Now just waiting for my account to be refreshed as I have a stay tomorrow...

I received the same email an hour ago. However, my online status doesn't reflect Platinium yet. Maybe tomorrow. But, at least I was approved. Sent the folio and account status. Now, I'll go and book some more weekend stays.
