Ritz-Carlton Cleveland, OH [Master Thread]
Stay Report 8/21-22
Location: The hotel is really well located if you're going to be in Downtown Cleveland. It's attached to Tower City Center which means you can get to the RTA to the airport if you want (a 25 minute ride and a great deal at $2.50) or you can walk to the Indians and Cavs arenas really easily along with a bunch of restaurants and breweries and even the downtown casino.
Hotel: The hotel has that weird urban layout where the valet level is on 1 (along with an entrance directly to Tower City) and you ride a single elevator to the 6th floor hotel lobby where you have to cross over to other elevators to the room levels. This does mean you need a key card to access the room floors which is always a good thing. The 7th floor has a fitness center (currently closed) and the 6th floor lobby level has a bar and restaurant which are currently open but with restricted hours.
Check In: The agent who checked me in was extremely friendly and helpful. In fact every employee I interacted with at this hotel was extremely friendly. I was also able to arrange a late check out though no upgrade (the agent looked at least).
Room: A little disappointing. While it was nice it didn't really feel like luxury nice, more like your average Westin nice with a tiny bathroom to boot. Also due to Corona there is no mini bar, bath soap, bath robe, in room coffeemaker (though you can ask that to be brought up) or throw pillows. On the plus sides the internet worked very well, the bed was comfortable and there were outlets next to it.
Dining: Due to state mandates the bar cannot serve past 10 PM. There is a limited breakfast and lunch and dinner menu and you can get it as room service. Do note that the room service is served in single use containers. The food was expensive as you expect but actually very good.
So overall a mixed bag. Service is impeccable as is location. I think some of the Corona cuts have gone too far especially as the hotel is still charging $350 before tax a night. It was fun as a treat but I think alternate Marriott options are likely better.

Thanks for the review! By chance did you hear when the Club would be open again? I may be in that area in late October and heard some of the RC clubs are opening back up by then (location dependent).

Maybe my least favorite Ritz in the world and the one I live closest to.
Have had inconsistent service and product at this hotel for over a decade.
I think Cleveland got a Ritz back in the day because many of the kings and such from the Middle East go to the Cleveland Clinic to be treated for various issues. I remember about 20 years ago staying there and entire floors being closed with security greeting you at the elevator.

The room didn't feel "ritzy" enough to me. Granted this is only my second Ritz Carlton but the one in Atlanta had far nicer and more luxurious rooms. At least the employees delivered very Ritzy service.

Many of the VIPs coming to the Clinic now stay at the Intercontinental on the Clinic Campus. It's owned by the Clinic and the VIP services/International Patient group has an office there. One floor is all suites. Some suites have bulletproof glass. I've stayed there a couple times now, service is outstanding.

Just completed a 3 night stay and only have great things to say about the hotel. Room was comfortable, large, and clean. Bed was extremely cozy and bathroom was nice. On top of that the service was very good.
Tower City on the other hand...man that place is depressing.

Can we assume that the lounge is still closed?

Mhmm, I might book my family there next week then versus the Renaissance around the corner inside Tower City.

I’ve also stayed at both Alofts, Marriott, Sheraton, and the Westin. So far I prefer the Westin but the Aloft downtown is near a lot of awesome restaurants.

I stayed at the Renaissance back in March and it was absolutely a dump. Which was a shame because it’s a part of a historical building and I really appreciate history.
