Update (and thanks for everyone's opinions).
Hotel credited to my Bonvoy account 80K points.
While not exactly an even swap, the fact is they offered (I never asked to be compensated) no questions asked.
Sort of restores my faith in this specific location and will give it another try.

Hmmm, 5,000 short of a standard award for a category 8 hotel. Still, nearly a free night so I suppose that's relatively fair.

As long as the OP is satisfied with the outcome, than the compensation received is fine. Ultimately that's what it comes down to with any situation requiring compensation. As long as the person receiving it feels adequately compensated than it was a good resolution. Helpmeout I am glad you got a good resolution.

I've had things like this happen to me on property. Typically the hotel will immediately dry clean and say if it cant be fixed they'll buy a substitute pair of pants

Once leaving property it becomes difficult. I'd would request the worth of the pants in points or new pants

If there was that much soy sauce left on the chair, I'd feel more sorry for the pants of the person who spilled it in the first place.

Might've been knocked off the table onto an unoccupied chair (but otherwise, yeah -- yikes!)
