I hate housekeeping with a passion. I wouldn’t invite a stranger into my house to have free rein to poke around my personal stuff. And the constant badgering to come and clean when I have the DND on the door. I have plenty of clean towels as I can slip on a bathrobe after a shower. I am happy to make up a bed and enjoy my room without disruption. And I have had things go missing too.

If the points didn’t show, which was rare, I’d let the staff know and they would often throw me a few extra. As said previously, Marriott devalued this program to kill it.

Yep. Multi-week stays at SPG hotels were very lucrative if you skipped housekeeping for 1-2 days each stay. Enough for a free night at a Cat 2 for example.

Provided good incentive to book longer stays at SPG hotels back then.

I stayed at a Springhill 3 nights last weekend. They seemed to have housekeeping, but with Covid I didn't want anyone in my room. When I hung the Do not Disturb card, I was surprised to see they still had the MAGC card also. I hung that up too, expecting nothing, having read this thread. But the stay points posted today, and sure enough, the MAGC points posted.

I don't know how consistent the discontinued housekeeping is.. We stayed at the Courtyard Hyannis for 2 nights and they had housekeeping. Also stayed at Courtyard Copley Square for 3 nights and they did not have housekeeping. P2 is happier when there is housekeeping but I don't really care.
