Giftcard in "Hold" status
 
Went to giftsdotmarriottdotcom to check my giftcard balance and was met with a "This card is on hold" message. Called in and they said they couldn't help as it was a physical gift card and told me to go to my point of purchase to sort it out. Went there...General Manager's shift is tomorrow...

Anyone ever run into this?

Other details:
1. I am the original purchaser, sale was recorded under my Bonvoy account.
2. Card is not registered
3. Card is in my possession

probably 8mths+ ago. Last activity in Feb 2020 though.

Then you need to contact the POS.

My first thought was a security feature of a recent purchased GC.

This happened to me once. The clerk sold me the GC, and the GM came back to property later and decided she didn't like the sale.
