No Squatter

A few days ago, I was exploring some hotel options in Jaipur and found a rate at the Jaipur Marriott Hotel that mentioned in the description, "Non-Commissionable Rate, No Squatter." I can't seem to pull it up today but was wondering what "No Squatter" could possibly mean. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Maybe it has a western toilet, instead of a squat toilet.

I guess that makes more sense than having someone move in to the room and then refuse to leave. :) I wonder if I need to specify "no squatter" when I make my reservation.

Seems like Indian hotels have similar issues to San Franciso ones.

Hopefully you'll then be able to avoid the "can't do" situation... ;)

From https://www.sabre.com/insights/relea...elers-choices/

Squatter rates are a known industry issue whereby hotels display higher room rates to corporate travelers as if they were a preferred property. Sabre's squatter rate audit tool gives corporate travel managers and agencies a way to detect these hotels and rates so the offending properties can be blocked or removed.

”When hotels load squatter rates, they confuse travelers and minimize volume to the negotiated hotels in their corporate program,” says Cassandra Rollins, general manager of Sabre Hotel RFP. “Identifying these squatters helps bring greater value to the company’s managed program and increases share to their preferred properties.”
