Bedbugs or not?

I'm at a Cat 5 Domestic Marriott Conference & Resort, and woke up to this lovely bug on my bed. Do you guys think this is a bedbug or not?

I did inform the front desk, and was offered 10k points, as well as reimbursement of dry cleaning. The hotel is under renovation and I was walked, and my original bed request wasn't honored either (king vs double). I'll raise this up to Marriott corporate although I do not have hopes that this'll be dealt with properly, as a colleague informed me that she was bit by bedbugs two years ago at the same facility.

Evergreen.

Waiting for the incident report and the alleged results from entomological testing performed by their environmental something something company. But they weren't surprised at all and a colleague of mine stated she was bit 2 years ago at the same hotel.

I agree, The photos suggest carpet beetles, not bed bugs.

It’s not the correct color for a bedbug so you should be okay there. Probably still worth checking all your luggage before going home though.

Based on the picture the bug is a carpet beetle, not a bed bug.

It would help to know the location of the hotel (at least the country or the continent). The quoted article is interesting. Both bugs aren't without issue. The bedbugs bite and the carpet beetles cause an allergic reaction. Eliminating all other options the carpet beetle would be the better option. A pleasant enough stay at a hotel in Vietnam included the entertainment associated with the endless trails of ants from one side of the room to the other. The cleaning staff vacuumed the ants once or twice a day for good measure. Certain bugs such as bed bugs and German roaches are better avoided at all cost but carpet beetles and ants and water bugs aren't a particular concern.

This does not look like a bed bug to me. I have had them before.

Great info, thanks.

in the bed bug registry, there is one report of the Westin Grand Central, reported earlier this year for Dec 2019.

Would that factor into your plans for staying in July 2021?
