Hi musicscrip,

The member who is gifting the reservation should call customer support to make the reservation. The associate will check if the free night certificate can be gifted.

Unless something has changed, only points reservations can be made in someone else's name, not free night certificates.

Christina,
The issue many of us have involves utilizing the credit card free night certificates. Specifically, husband has titanium elite status, but silver status spouse has the credit card free night certificate. Couple wants to make reservation for joint stay, using wife's credit card free night certificate. Couple wants to enjoy husband's titanium benefits. How to proceed?

I would like to know the official answer too. My husband is Gold and I am Plat. We booked a night using his Chase FN cert for a stay in May. Our experiences have been, Asian properties are accommodating when at check in they know one of the guests has higher status, they honor the higner status benefits. However this upcoming stay is in Europe. So a more definitive answer from the Lurker is beneficial, even though it would mean we need to cancel and rebook thru Customer Support as Christina suggested.

Yes, some free night certificates can only be used by the member. We would suggest to call and check with the associate if the free night certificate can be gifted.

Hi ohmark,

Free night certificates from credit card can only be used by the member.

I gifted an award reservation over the phone. In the email confirmation I received my name is appearing as the primary guest and the actual guests name is appearing as "additional guest". Then in the reservation details on the Marriott site my name is listed as the guest and the actual guests name is not visible anywhere.

Was this gifted award reservation booked correctly?

That's what I thought. Time to cancel and rebook until they get it right. 🙄

Sorry no. SNAs are not transferable. Best you can hope for is to flash your Plat card at check in and hope the hotel throws you a bone.

How about charging incidentals like restaurant meals to a separate folio. My partner is gold and I am titanium. He has nights booked under his account using CC certs. I assume we won’t get much of an upgrade or breakfast, etc...but I’m wondering if there’s any way to get the 75% bonus that I would typically get for restaurant or spa purchases.

No way to do this unless you also have a stay, beside its only really a 50% increase from gold to titanium.
