Status Drop Timing?

Does anyone know the exact date when you lose prior status with Marriott?

I am Plat Elite and will drop to Gold this year. I am checking in to a property with a lounge (Sheraton Phoenix Crescent) on February 29th and am hoping that I do not lose status prior to checkin.

I searched the threads and it appears that your status at checkin prevails throughout your stay, so I think I should be good if they do not pull my status before the evening of February 29th, which is cutting it really close!

Marriott T&C status through February reference: marriott.com/loyalty/terms/default.mi

Any personal experience or data points would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since T&C say “THROUGH February” I am hoping that means through the last day of February (thanks, leap year!), but would love it if anyone could chime in with firsthand experience or knowledge.

Last year 2018 status lasted through Feb and well into March, but they do seem to have switched the date this year. It’s Marriott IT so who knows.

According to this thread, it's Feb 1.

Oh I really do not like that answer, though I do appreciate you for finding that thread for me.

They haven’t fixed the issues with “nights to renew” or corrected issues with lifetime years or even correctly counted stays for everyone in 2019. So as it currently stands I would think they are not going to adjust your status 1 Feb.

I’ve always thought status goes to end of February but apparently now is end of January. But most definitely by April.

We have made it into Feb and I'm still showing Plat. I know I should reset to gold. I have a trip mid March and would love to carry until then for free breakfast. Doubt it will last that long though.

I really don’t understand why Marriott or the Marriott Lurkers on FT do not simply publish the date when the new status levels go into effect.

I think it is due them applying the change manually and it is being done via batches.

Wow if this is true then Marriott needs to rebuild its IT from bottom up.
How hard is it to create a program that takes the total night count from 2019 for each Bonvoy member and assigns the appropriate status?
Even a student can do this.
