i just received it myself as well, the link to pay, does that mean they stopped charging it to the room to the final Bill. does it come from Marriott ? they even want me to pay the upgrade in the same Bill. the reason i am asking is i was counting to use the Marriott credit and the multipliers for the credit card to get some points.
What did you wind up doing I'm still emailing them back and forth

7 days is a bit more reasonable. I have so far kept pushing back with saying I haven't finalized my flights (which I have not) and asking if this is an official policy change? Their own documentation they sent to me explicits says TMA doesn't settle schedule until the day before and that it is charged upon checkout. Therefore Why am I paying so far in advance?

At least come up with a cohesive policy. Either that or cashflow is weak right now

I got one of these emails about 2 weeks before check in. My plan is to use gift cards for a big chunk of the payment so I told them I want to pay on site instead. They said third party services - such as plane transfer - cannot be paid with gift cards. Will see about that.

We were charged at check out on our trip in March as well. Gotta admit that I prefer that to prepayment, but I suppose it's just like paying for any other flight.

I also received a payment link on August 25th for a check-in date of late September. I'm booked on points but the payment link included the charge for both the sea plane and $50/night upgrade fee for Sunrise OWV. I was hoping to pay for both of these at the resort, in order to use discounted Marriott gift cards and earn additional Marriott points. Has anyone had success negotiating this since the change to pre-payment?

Also, if anyone has paid the sea plane fee in advance - do you know how it coded with your credit card company? The link I was sent makes it look like the payment is processed by Bank of Maldives. If I can't pay at the resort, I at least want to use the right card when making my purchase.

Thanks in advance!

I did the prepayment using the link sent last week as mentioned processed by bank of Maldives. I only had seaplane transfer charge in USD and it did appear on the credit card transaction as a travel transaction charged by
“LE MERIDIEN MALDIVES R THILAMAAFUSHI 013”

Hence if you charge to a Marriott CC , you most likely earn extra points for the Marriott property charge.

Have you asked if you can pay for it with GC's? I'll be in the same boat in November.

Others have reported using gift cards at the resort without issue but that was prior to them requiring pre-payment for the sea plane. I haven't asked if pre-paying with gift cards is an option and I probably won't bother with it. I just double checked my gift card stash and it looks like I'll barely have enough to cover our meals and other incidentals so it won't really make a difference in my situation anyways.

I received a PDF today from the hotel for our stay in October/November and the seaplane is listed at $420 for ages 12 and up. Did they decrease it?

They told me that the price is going up to $495 pp on November 1, but if you have a reservation beginning before then (even if it ends after) then they'll honor the $420 price.

Did you end up trying to pay through the link with a Marriott card? Did it code as an actual Marriott property?

We're not checking in for a couple more weeks so I haven't paid yet. I will have to do it next week though and will report back with how it codes. I'm planning to use a Marriott card based off the other replies.

Did anyone who stayed here have problems with the points posted to your Marriott account? I had booked 3 rooms on points and had about $3k in seaplane transfers, $3k in dining and $2k for activities.

They essentially posted points for about $250. I have been going back and forth between Marriott and the Resort. I was curious is this is an isolated issue (or) if others had similar issues.
