I would go to Scottsdale rather than LA. I love LA but....

I would as well, but the OP specifically ruled out Scottsdale.
And at least in 2019, early/mid March in Scottsdale was rather chilly - didn't ruin my vacation, but 4/5 days was too cold to enjoy sitting by the pool. Was perfect for hiking though.

I'm a Florida native, live on the beach, and completely confirm what MSPeconomist says about Spring Break in Florida. Doesn't matter which coast. It's so bad that the local newspapers actually publish the spring break schedules for the northern schools.
