Interesting point. Has Marriott got to the point where members are perceiving that the level of marketing emails is becoming instrusive SPAM ?

Just gone through my inbox for the last month. Marriott Bonvoy has sent me :
26 Oct : Oxon, your November Offers Have Arrived
25 Oct : The Curator - October 2019
24 Oct : Your Must-Do Exclusive List
23 Oct : Get Complimentary Breakfast and 5% Off with Your Visa® Card
23 Oct : Stay Twice. Get 2,000 Bonus Points. Then, Get Even More
15 Oct : Be a Part of It All with Marriott Bonvoy Moments
15 Oct : Save up to 25% at Picture-Perfect Getaways
11 Oct : Your Marriott Bonvoy Account Update: Special Offers, Benefits & More
8 Oct : Get Special Savings and Earn up to 2,000 Points on Hertz Rentals
1 Oct : Don't Miss These Moments
28 Sep : Oxon, Your October Offers Have Arrived

Way more than all my other hotel programs send me, and a bit much, IMO. Particularly in the last week.

While I didn't bother to tally up the emails I received from Marriott Bonvoy, it is definitely a lot. It is to the point where I consider it SPAM and delete most of them without even reading them. The exact opposite of what a marketing campaigns aims to do. I.e Disenfranchise rather than increase the level of engagement.

DID YOU KNOW...that you can modify your communications setting with Bonvoy in your account settings? Sounds like a simple solution to me.

I have been trying to unsubscribe for months. That doesn’t seem to work for me.

I keep getting odd hyper-targeted offers for specific hotel brands and locations which are of no relevance to me whatsoever. Last week it was some Residence Inns or similar crummy brands in secondary cities in India. I haven't been to India for 8 years and didn't stay at a Marriott or SPG hotel when I did.

I subscribe to the Marriott emails for potential target offers and birthday elite nights.

But if any target offer ever came, it might be lost among the Marriott spams... I don’t even bother checking

And did you know that if you disable marketing SPAM, you also disable promo offers? You can't have one without the other.

Which is truly annoying given the frequency of emails I get from Marriott. I really wish I could turn them off and keep the promos. I’m not reading the emails anyway...

Considering there has never been a good Bonvoy promo, it's more like taking the bad with the bad. Bonvoy's signal-to-noise ratio is vanishingly small.

Hi jonisflying,

We would like to help look into this if you could provide your Marriott Bonvoy account details to us via private mail here or by email below.

Sounds like someone doesnt understand customer service.

If the St Regis Maldives Vommuli slapped every guest on their way out, wouldnt any complaint about that simply be "someone cant take the good with the bad" too?

Agreed. I end up deleting them without reading. Eventually Google will just auto junk them and that's it - the exact opposite of the intention of sending the emails.

Looks like some hotel owners might be testy about losing business to other chains due to Marriott's weak Q4 promo

Comparing getting emails (which can be easily filtered) to an assault is asinine.
