How do I book a day rate?

I'm arriving in IAD on Monday the 21st after an overnight flight and I wanted to book a day room at the Marriott airport hotel.

I found the right rate code (ZDY), but I'm not sure what to put in for my check in and check out dates. Both the Marriott website and app forces you to put in different dates for check in and for check out. Should I put in a check in date of the 21st and a check out of the 22nd?

hI,

I found this page on the hotel website ( if you have not found it already)

https://www.marriott.com/hotels/hote...arriott/857730

The dates are effectively overnight ( ie 18-19 october) but the room descriptions are for day rates only

Regards

Call the hotel directly or Marriott Central Reservations. Either of those places will be able to correctly make a reservation for a day use room (assuming it's available).

Would you still get a nights credit on your account for booking a day room?

Hi nequine,

You will receive bonus points for stay booked at day use rate but no elite night credit.

Yep, I’d agree - Hilton looks a good choice for day rates!

Not only for day rates is good choice, if you see what Starriott do with loyality program.

Just book it from the night before and use late checkout if your status allows the 4pm. Just notify the hotel via chat that your flight is late or something and all will be well. I did this in MIA last week I didn't get any upgrade or "nicer room", but honestly. I didn't care for this trip... SFO-MIA redeye for a 3 hour meeting at noon. to then be home for a dinner party.... UGH LOL

Overnight stays usually cost substantially more than day rates.

Also... not every employee also gets the message that you are arriving the next morning. Therefore you are often deemed a no show and can struggle to both get your room as well as receiving night credit for status. (since you checked in and out on the same calendar day)

No issue with credit. Even though you checkin after midnight, it's still considered a stay for the night of booking. Done this many times.

Most dont get 4pm check out. Also 4pm can be earlier than needed. I frequently have 8pm or later flights. Most day rates I book are till 6pm and they'll give you late checkout if asked.

Came here to see others experiences with day rates and Marriott and it seems that others agree with me that Hilton is the only one that does it right. I dont think many if any Marriotts load the rates like Hilton does. Also, I have seen some really goofy things with Marriott, Westin DCA always shows $799 for a day rate, like always. Hilton definitely gets it right here.
