Question FAQ: Are elite benefits included if booked through 3rd party like Costco?

If I'm Platinum Elite, yet book through costcotravel, is breakfast included if I let them know my status when I check in at the front desk?

Costcotravel has better prices for a Hawaii hotel at which we'll be staying, but if we choose the breakfast option via costco, the total exceeds the direct Marriott price. I don't eat breakfast but she does. If it's not honored when booked with third party, we'll just go with Marriott direct.

Thanks!

Have you tried to find the answer yourself by looking at the current T&C for the Marriott/Bonvoy program? Also, the comparison could depend on the brand and whether the hotel has a lounge as well as the number of people, including children (what ages?).

Quick answer: No. Third-party reservations do not usually qualify for any benefits (breakfast, points, nights etc.).

Long answer: Book direct and submit a Best Rate Guarantee claim that (if successful) will additionally give you a 25% discount or 5000 additional points as well as your Platinum benefits.

Longer answer: Some brands give breakfast to all, while other brands don't give free breakfast at all to elites.

Costco rates are not eligible for BRG claims, they require a paid membership, so are not considered a publicly available rate.

Longer, longer answer: If OP booked a room through a third party that included breakfast, then they would get breakfast. But this would be a function of the rate booked, rather than the channel or OP’s Bonvoy status — which is irrelevant for this discussion 🧐

Also worth considering which property and what they do for breakfast since it varies.

Since when did Costco pick up Marriott? It's always been Hilton/Hyatt every time I've looked.

Any Platinum Benefits Booking Through Costco?

I know may of the perks of a Bonvoy Platinum are not provided when booking through a third party site.

Just wondering if any Platinum benefits are available like room upgrade. Thinking of staying at Ritz Carlton Kapalua.

Thanks

Do they offer a lower rate than booking directly? I have never even been to a Costco store so I have no idea what they offer.

From a theoretical perspective, "no."

The property can choose to offer anything it wants, however. But they are not required to do so.

Just FYI, as a platinum you would not qualify for upgrades a RC anyway.

Platinums quality for upgrades at RC, but not to suites or rooms with club access, nor at RC Reserve.
